Larry T. Bottoms, 53, of Summersville, KY, son of Ellen Crutcher of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and the late Frankie Crutcher, was born on December 20, 1968 in Elizabethtown and departed this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in Nelson County due to a motorcycle accident. 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Severance Valley Baptist Church. He was a Supervisor Mate for ADM Transportation and Logistics-Towboat, and loved riding motorcycles.

Shirley Marie Sloan, 77, was born February 3, 1945 in Floyd County, Indiana to the late Archie and Blanche Foster Knight. She departed this life Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab Center.

 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sloan and her son, James Sloan.

Alta Bertine Griffith, 77, of Campbellsville, KY passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1944 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Clyde and Agned (Hill) Fenner.
 
Alta had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a retired supervisor of computer operations at the Kellogs factory in Michigan. Alta enjoyed playing bingo and loved to bake for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

AUDRA HARMON RIGGS, 85, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Audra Harmon Riggs, 85, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Buford Harmon and Clemmie Wise Harmon, was born October 11, 1936 in Marion County, KY. She died at 2:18 A.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Audra was a retired employee of the Campbellsville School System, where she spent many years working in the cafeteria. After retirement, she looked forward to her lunches with her former coworkers and friends. She also loved spending time with her special friend, Brenda Bright.

 

She united in marriage to Charles Richard “Ted” Newcome who preceded her in death in 1956 and she later united in marriage to Charles Riggs on May 10, 1958 who also preceded her in death September 19, 2015.

BEECHEL CLARK, 83, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Beechel Clark, 83, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late John Sylvester Sluder and Lettie Mae Cox Sluder, was born January 26, 1939 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 4:15 A.M. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in Campbellsville. 

 

Beechel professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and had babysat for numerous children, most of whom still called her “Mammy.”  Beechel loved gospel and country music and visiting family, especially her grandbabies. She always had a smile for you and was best known for her punchbowl cake.

 

She united in marriage to Leslie Clark February 7, 1959 and he preceded her in death August 11, 2015.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of South Summersville Baptist Church. He pastored several churches and served under the Southern Baptist Convention for 57 years. 

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son in 1986, Tim Milby, and by 4 brothers & 3 sisters: Hugh, John, Ray and Leonard Milby, Margie Milby, Christine Bloyd and Mary Lois Despain.

Charles Edward Milby, 78, of Summersville, Kentucky, son of the late Jim R. Milby and Virgie Alice (Milby) Milby, was born on Saturday, July 17, 1943 in Green County and departed this life on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at his home. 


He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Summersville Baptist Church. He was a woodworker for the former Clark Casual Furniture Manufacturing from 1967 until 2002. He then worked for Heartland Custom Cabinets from 2002 until 2013. He loved his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, and also loved to fish in his free time. Mr. Milby was also a member of the William B. Allen Masonic Lodge #704 F&AM.

He had made a profession of faith on Christ and was a member of the Otter Creek Separate Baptist Church and was a former flooring installer and enjoyed pitching horse shoes. He was a Veteran, having served in the United Stated Army.

 

He united in marriage on September 24, 1954 to Eldora (Beard) Allen, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2021.

Carles Ray Lloyd, 77, of Campbellsville, KY passed from this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehab Facility after an illness. He was born in Adair County on May 26, 1944 to the late Elford and Bonnie (Bunch) Lloyd. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Eastside Church of God. Mr. Lloyd was a noted contract painter, and enjoyed fishing and woodworking. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lloyd in 2016 and a sister, Freda Sroczynski.

Otha Quisenberry, 68, of Richmond, KY died Wednesday, April 20, 2022. He was born in Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late David and Ruth Quisenberry of Campbellsville.

 

Otha was a graduate of Campbellsville University and resided in Winchester, KY for many years. He enjoyed a successful career making many friends across the commercial trucking industry. Outside of work, Otha enjoyed being involved in youth sports. After coaching both Brian and Tiffany in baseball, he continued to serve as a coach, board member and president of Little League Baseball in Winchester for several years. He was also involved with Little League at the district and state levels. He loved spending time at the ballpark, including trips to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League World Series. Otha also enjoyed using his booming voice to perform announcer duties for local sports, including George Rogers Clark High School football and basketball. One of his favorite memories was announcing for the Kentucky High School Basketball Sweet Sixteen at Rupp Arena. Otha was a lifelong fan of college basketball and the Kentucky Wildcats.

RUTH CLARK PERKINS, 99, GREENSBURG, KY

 

Ruth Clark Perkins, 99, of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Franklin Porter Clark and Rosa Valera Moran Clark, was born June 19, 1922 in Green County and departed this life on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. 


She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years, and was the church historian and served on numerous other committees. She was a lifelong resident of the Thurlow community of Green County. She was a homemaker and an avid genealogist. She was an employee of the Green County Library for more than 40 years. She started the genealogy department of the Library that grew to be a well-known place to come for help on family history. She was also known simply as “Ms. Ruth” to the many researchers who came to the library seeking her help.


She united in marriage to Carl Taylor Perkins on December 18, 1937 who preceded her in death on May 29, 2013. To this union were born five children. In December 2012 they celebrated 75 years of marriage.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle.  June worked as a secretary most of her life.  She was a devoted child of God and always made sure her family knew the plan of salvation.  She was the strong power house of her family and was cherished by them. June loved her church family and was a kind and caring person who was admired by the people she was around. A favorite pastime was going to thrift shops and sales.

Judith united in marriage to Herald E. Gabehart March 18, 1961 and he preceded her in death July 30, 2019.

Ann Michelle Cundiff, 61, of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late James Lawrence Abell and Geneva Christine Riley Abell, was born September 20, 1960 in Marion County, KY and departed this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.


She was of the Catholic Faith and attended Mt. Gilead Christian Church. She was a homemaker and loved her prayer groups.

TOM MCCLENDON, 63, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY


Tom R. McClendon, 63, of Russell Springs, KY passed away suddenly Monday, April 11th, 2022 in Liberty, KY as the result of an auto accident. He was born in Somerset, KY on December 16, 1958, a son of Shirley (Sheeter) McClendon of Russell Springs, KY and the late James Robert (Bob) McClendon. 

Tom was walking positivity. He genuinely loved life and saw it as an adventure. He was an incredible listener, gave sound advice, and offered support and encouragement. 

Tom was in medical sales and had a work ethic like no other. He was a retired radio broadcaster and loved hot air balloons. He was an avid runner and was so proud of his dedication to running nearly every day. Tom loved his family and friends fiercely and had a laugh you would never forget.

James A. Arnett, 83, was born October 15, 1938 in Bartholomew County, Indiana to the late Nardicle John and Molly Scrougham Arnett. He departed this life Monday, April 11, 2022 at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

     

He was a carpenter. 

 

He was united in marriage to Sally Miller Arnett, who preceded him in death. Besides his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Becky Smith, Darlene Stokes and JoAnn Gentry.

Margaret Faye Martin, 76, of Campbellsville, KY (formerly of Springfield, KY), the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Montgomery) Clements, was born July 25, 1945 in Springfield and departed this life Friday, April 8, 2022 in Campbellsville at the home of her daughter.
 
She was a former executive assistant for Western KY Gas and later Atmos Energy and was of the Catholic Faith. Margaret enjoyed playing lottery, cooking, playing cards and bingo with friends and spending time with her dog Teddy.
 
She united in marriage to Monroe Martin, who preceded her in death.

Jackie Lee Lawson, 70, of Columbia, formerly of Taylor County, KY was born November 18, 1951 in Taylor County and departed this life on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in Letcher County as the result of a semi-truck accident. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. Jackie was a truck driver for B&A trucking in Columbia. He enjoyed driving, fishing and hanging out and talking to people anywhere there was a coffee pot.

Orville Smith, 78, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late James Smith and Edith Pennington Smith, was born May 26, 1943 in Hardin County, KY and departed this life Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

 

He was a hardworking man and started his own business doing tree removals. He started Green Acres Tree Removal in Illinois then came to Campbellsville and started Ray’s Tree Removal. Orville was known by many people and was loved dearly. Many knew him for his love of boots and several people called him “Boots” for this very reason. He was a loving husband, father, brother, papaw, and friend. He will be loved and missed by many.

 

Orville united in marriage to Faye Smith in 1961, who preceded her death September 16, 2010.

DANNY W. GERHARDT, 79, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Danny W. Gerhardt, 79, of Campbellsville, KY was born on September 13, 1942 in Walhalla, North Dakota to the late Phillip and Jean (Kuhn) Gerhardt. He departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness. 

 

Mr. Gerhardt had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of St. Joe Catholic Church. He was a Mason, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, a past candidate of the North Dakota House of Representatives, and a past member of the North Dakota Association of the Blind. A welder by trade, a husband and father by desire, he also enjoyed making homemade sausage, pheasant hunting, fishing, and watching motorcycle races.

William Henry "Bill" Sublett, 72, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late James Allen and Beatrice Ann (Matthews) Sublett was born September 24, 1949 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home. 
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Soule Chapel United Methodist Church. Bill showed his love for his family and Jesus Christ daily. He was a member of the Elk Horn Masonic Lodge and served 12 years in the Kentucky National Guard. Bill retired after 21 years as a machinist at Parker-Kalon in Campbellsville and retired as the maintenance supervisor for Crescent Hill Manor Apartments. He was a former keyboard player for the Robison’s Gospel Singers.

Stanley Simpson, 88, of Campbellsville, KY (formerly of Green County) passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born on Wednesday, November 15, 1933 in Green County, the son of the late James Ogden Simpson and Margaret Wooldridge Simpson.

Stanely had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He was a lifelong farmer, a member of Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM, and formerly sang with the “Gospel Fives” gospel group. Mr. Simpson loved to fish, squirrel hunt, and had a talent of storytelling.

Bonus children: Mike & Marie Wright, Mary Ann & Robbie Wise, and Gail & Ricky Underwood all of Campbellsville, KY; Vickie Harrison of Elizabethtown, KY; Mark & Kara Wright of Summersville, KY
15 Grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; & 5 great-great grandchildren

Burial: Green County Memory Gardens in Summersville
 
Visitation: After 9:30amCT on Wednesday at the funeral home 
 
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
 

KENNETH DWAYNE "BIGGIN" BURRESS, 55, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 
Kenneth Dwayne “Biggin” Burress, 55, of Campbellsville, KY passed suddenly from this life on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his home. Born in Taylor County on November 12, 1966 to the late Charles Kenneth and Sarah JoAnn (Williams) Burress
 
He was a former truck driver, only retiring due to disabilities. 
 
His lifetime companion, Kristi Peterson, preceded him in death in 2019. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Wayne Burress.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
