Clurell Wayne England, 85, was born December 20, 1937 in Taylor County, Kentucky to the late Eugene England and Birchie Harvey England. He departed this life Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital.

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a farmer and was a former grocery store owner.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death one infant daughter: Tammy Lynn England; two brothers: Hyman England and Neal England; and one sister, Doris Fudge.

 

He is survived by one son, Timmy Wayne England; one daughter, Marilyn Bibb both of Summersville; several nieces and nephews; plus, a host of other relatives and friends.  

 

Graveside services for Clurell Wayne England will be conducted 10 A.M., Central Time, Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Aetna Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Kelvin Edwards officiating. Burial will follow.

Emma J Mast, 76, of Campbellsville, KY, died March 28, 2023 of ALS, at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, where she was being cared for. She was born on November 29, 1946 in Dover, Delaware, a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Nissley) Mast.

3 sisters: Elizabeth Ann (Levi) Troyer of Marlette, Michigan, Lydia (Alvin) Mast of Fremont, Michigan, and Vernie Mast of Marlette, Michigan

2 brothers: John Henry (Anna) Mast of Campbellsville, KY and David (Barbara) Mast of Tompkinsville, KY

1 brother-in-law: David Swarey of Campbellsville, KY

 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Eli; two sisters: Ella and Rosie; a brother-in-law, Noah Troyer; and sister-in-law, Sadie Mast.

 

Funeral Service: Friday, March 31, 2023 at 1725 Bradfordsville Road Campbellsville, KY at 9:30 A.M. ET with burial to follow in the Mannsville Amish Cemetery. Minister Leroy Yoder will officiate.

J.T. Holmes, 26, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of Glenn Holmes and Angie McAllister Holmes, was born October 21, 1996 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his residence after his brave battle against cancer. 

 

He had previously been employed as a building engineer. He had a love for baseball, umpiring, and sports in general, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his nieces and nephew. He had professed faith in Christ and was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church.

 

SURVIVORS:

His parents: Glenn Holmes and Angie McAllister Holmes both of Campbellsville.

1 brother and 2 sisters: Trista Wood and husband Cory of Campbellsville, Aaron Schwoebel and wife Sarah of Mt. Sterling, and Mariah Holmes of Campbellsville.

His Grandparents: Allen and Sandy Holmes and Steve and Anna McAllister all of Campbellsville, Janie Dial of Greensburg.

3 nieces and one nephew: Kyndall Wood, Rhilynn Wood, Kamryn Schwoebel, and Brantlee Wood.

 

He was preceded in death by one uncle, Steven McAllister.

 

Funeral service: Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Campbellsville High School Gymnasium with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery with Bro. Dan Durham and Kirby Smith officiating.

 

The family requests visitation on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Campbellsville High School Gymnasium.

Tony Jon Rush, 80, Columbia, KY

 

Tony Jon Rush, 80, of Columbia, KY, the son of Karol Oliver Rush and Bessie Madelyn Frantz Rush, was born July 22, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD and departed this life on Monday, March 27, 2023 surrounded by his family.

 

He was raised in Friendsville, MD, moved to Washington D.C., and joined the navy in 1962. He raised his family in Columbia, CT while working at United Technologies in East Hartford, CT as an electro-mechanical engineer. He and his wife retired to Columbia, KY nearly 30 years ago. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy having served on nuclear submarines during the Cold War and in Vietnam and was proud to be a veteran. He was a member of the VFW, The American Legion, and was an avid outdoorsman and deer hunter.

Jerry D. Murphy, 68, of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Campbellsville, KY, son of Faye Murphy and the late Samuel E. Murphy, was born September 28, 1954. He died Thursday, March 23, 2023.

 

Jerry is survived and missed by his loving mother, Faye Murphy. Forever loved and cherished by his sister, Julie Murphy (Mike Kovach) as well as many other extended family and friends will forever miss his incredible kindness and his beautiful soul.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Samuel E. Murphy and a brother, Edward Lee Murphy as well as his grandparents, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Floyd C. Thompson, 79, of Gallatin, Tennessee, formerly of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Marvin Thompson and Ruth Hash, was born June 14, 1943 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee.

 

Floyd served in the United States military. He worked for the Campbellsville Police Department and he later retired from Verizon as a Warehouse Maintenance Technician. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching westerns, and swinging on the porch. He professed faith in Christ and attended The Nashville Church.

Mrs. Milby had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was purchasing director at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital for 45 years. She was a member of the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital Auxiliary.


Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Shirldeen Lobb on December 25, 1984; her husband, William Earl Milby on October 26, 2022; and by four brothers and two sisters: William, Charles, Herbert and Robert Wright and Barbara Bagby and Mary Alice Wright.

She was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, enjoyed making candy and baking treats for her family and friends.

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Audubon Baptist Church in Louisville. Martha loved her work and was a life-time member of Louisville Board of Realtors. She was a successful real estate investor for over 50 years and was also an FHA and VA appraiser and served on the Jefferson County Tax Assessment Board.

Charles Thomas “Charlie” Richardson, 83, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Elmer Elder Richardson and Daisy Bird Berry Richardson, was born September 2, 1939 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 7:24 P.M., Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Campbellsville.

 

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Elder, and Clerk of the Cumberland Presbytery. He was a member of the Campbellsville Gideon Camp. Charles was an Educator and Administrator. He began his career teaching English at Cloverport High School. Then he taught at Bardstown Independent for 4 years before returning home where he taught at his alma mater, Campbellsville High School. He went on to become principal at CHS in 1980. He retired in 1991 as an Administrator for the district. Charles loved the Campbellsville School System and Eagle family. During the summers, his time was spent managing the softball leagues at Miller Park. Through his collaborative work with others the City/County Softball Park was developed. During this time, he worked to provide recreational events for the youth and citizens of Taylor County, influenced many and made lifelong friendships. Family was a big part of Charlie’s life, especially his 3 grandchildren.

Larry Dale "PeeWee" Gumm, 86, Greensburg, KY

 

Larry Dale “PeeWee” Gumm, 86, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Joseph Motley Gumm and Vara Marshall Gumm, was born on March 11, 1936 and passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

 

Coach Gumm had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. He was a teacher at Green County Schools for 40 plus years, coached the Green County High School Baseball team for 44 seasons, and was also an assistant coach for the basketball and football teams. In baseball, he had an overall record of 1,006-493, becoming the first Kentucky high school baseball coach to reach 1,000 wins. He is currently ranked 4th in all time coaching wins and was inducted into the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inaugural class in 1997. Coach Gumm went on to become a finalist in the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2007 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. He was an avid University of Louisville sports fan and loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren.

 

He was united in marriage on August 5, 1960 to Martha Jane Harston Gumm, who preceded him in death on July 2, 2021.

William "Bill" Lowell Humphress, 84, Knifley, KY

 
William “Bill” Lowell Humphress, 84, of Knifley, KY was born March 23, 1938 in Adair County, KY to the late Chester Howard Humphress and Jesse Jewell Eastridge Humphress, and departed this life Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at UK Healthcare in Lexington, KY.
 
Bill married the love of his life, Clara Gaskins Humphress, February 22, 1958. She preceded him in death September 19, 2022.
 
He enjoyed golfing, flying small planes, farming, and fishing. He was an avid fan of UK basketball and NASCAR. His interest in helping others was reflected in his 20 year tenure of coaching little league baseball in Danville, Indiana. Receiving the KY State Farm “Good Neighbor Award” was just one recognition of the thousands of ways he helped his neighbors and friends.
 
Bill left home at the young age of 17 to serve his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan, where he developed his skill as an Air Traffic Controller. This became his life’s work and he rose to the rank of Chief at the Indianapolis International Airport where he was highly respected by both his co-workers and top management. Keeping air travelers safe was a responsibility he took seriously every day until his retirement from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1996.
 
Upon retirement, he and Clara moved from Danville, Indiana back to the family farm in Knifley, and enjoyed their “Ole Kentucky Home” and country living over the next 25 years. At an early age Bill professed his faith in God and devoted many hours of service to his church, Christie Chapel, holding various positions thru the years.

Mr. Hendrickson made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of 2nd Christian Church of Columbia, KY. He retired from Fruit of the Loom and worked at Cox Interior. Mr. Hendrickson was well liked by everyone. He never met a stranger. He loved his family, tractors, music and dancing. He was always smiling and pleasant.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Mae Turner and four brothers: Amos, Joe, Paul and Robert Hendrickson.

Minnie Holtzclaw Sublett, 87, of Louisville, KY (formerly of Campbellsville), daughter of the late Joshua W. Holtzclaw and Lula Blair Holtzclaw was born October 17, 1935 in Adair County. She died at 6:29 P.M., Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Louisville.

 

Mrs. Sublett professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Mosaic United Methodist Church and was previously a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. 

 

She united in marriage to Claude Ray Sublett January 9, 1955 and he preceded her in death November 8, 2003.

Nora Anne Minor,18, of Elizabethtown, KY passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023 at UofL Hospital. 

 

Nora was a 2022 graduate of Central Hardin High School, where she was a member of the marching band for 2 years and the swim team for 4 years. She graduated high school with an associates degree in Science from the Hardin County Academy Program. Currently she was a student at E.C.T.C and worked part time at Academy Sports as a sales associate. She was an alumni member of Youth Theatre of Hardin County, and served many years in the music ministry at St. James Catholic Church. Nora was also a Girl Scout for 13 years and a member of BSA Girl Troop #233.

 

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Paul Minor; grandmother, Gaye Newton; grandparents, Ollie and Clara Newton; and two great-grandparents: Nora Lee Minor and Corrine Sublett.

Carlos Lee Bloyd, 89, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, son of the late Walter T. Bloyd and Lillian Hudgins Bloyd, was born on January 14, 1934 in Green County and departed this life on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

 

He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Younger Creek Church. He was a Machinist at Brown and Williamson, and also was a member of the Louisville Masonic Lodge.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anna Louise Whitlow Bloyd on June 25, 2013 having united in marriage on January 31, 1953.

She was united in marriage January 1, 1954 to Larry Jones, who preceded her in death February 3, 2021. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 1 sister.

Doyle Ray Bush, 92, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Ossie Dean Bush and Alice Maurine Slinker Bush, was born on August 3, 1930 in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Green Hill Rehab and Care Center in Greensburg. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church and also attended the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a retired machinist for C. Lee Cook Manufacturing Company. Mr. Bush was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Air Force from August 5, 1950 until August 9, 1954 and was a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Imogene “Jean” Barnes Bush on May 12, 2020 having united in marriage on January 1, 1953.

Billy Dale Parker, 74, of Maryville, TN, formerly of Campbellsville, KY passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Campbellsville, KY, November 3, 1946 to the late Shelby Parker and Effie Perkins Parker Hartfield.
 
Mr. Parker professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He served his country honorably in the United Sates Air Force having served in Vietnam. Mr. Parker was a retired supervisor from the University of Tennessee Hospital and had also worked as an airplane mechanic. He loved woodworking and spending time with his grandkids.
