RICHARD LUCAS, 88, COLUMBIA, KY

 

Richard Lucas, 88, of Columbia, KY son of the late Robert and Ida Bee Lucas, was born in Frenchman Bayou, Arkansas on June 22, 1932 and departed this life on Thursday, November 26th, 2020 at his home. 

 

Richard was an engineer draftsman for the Civil Engineer Firm as a government contractor for 26 years.  He enjoyed moving to Kentucky after living in Washington, D.C. for most of his life. He loved having land in Columbia and being surrounded by the beautiful nature Kentucky has to offer people.

 

Richard united in marriage to Marilyn Wymer on February 14, 1960 who preceded him in death on July 4, 2007.

3 sons: Richard H. Lucas & wife Diana of Huntsville, Alabama; Daryl J. Lucas & wife Ruthie of Willington, Connecticut; and Robin Lucas of Columbia, KY    

1 sister: Caroline Senter

Richard was also preceded in death by one sister, Rosaline Brown.

 

Cremation was chosen by the family. All services will be held privately at a later date by the family.

Kerry Joey Ervin, 57, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 15, 1963 in Green County, KY the son of the late Elwood & Katherine Morgan Ervin. 
 
Kerry was a recycling supervisor at the Breckinridge County Detention Center and a man of strong faith who attended the Church of Joy. He enjoyed spending time in the company of friends and his loving family.
 
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Ervin; 1 brother, Timmie Ervin; and a sister, Vickie Ervin.

Wanda “Bonnie” Gabehart, 80, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Charlie Belden and Mattie Trailer Belden, was born November 29, 1939 in Casey County, KY.  She died at 8:25 P.M., Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
Bonnie professed faith in Christ and was a member of God’s Grace Church.  She was a loving mother and was well thought of by her sons’ friends growing up.
 
She was also preceded in death by 3 sons: Michael Todd “Tee” Gabehart October 25, 2008, Travis Paul Gabehart and Anthony Ray Gabehart in infancy; and by one sister, June Wilcher.

GERRY EDWARD DUGGAR, 74, GREEN CO., KY

 

Gerry Edward Dugger, 74, the only son of the late Arnold and Faye (Adkins) Dugger, was born in Green County, KY on August 3, 1946. He departed this life on Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Lexington at the Lexington VA Hospital after an illness. 
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Church of God faith. Mr. Dugger was a self-taught painter, and a retiree of L&N Railroad. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where, during the Vietnam War, he earned the right to wear a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, among many other commendations.

Mr. Dugger will be laid to rest in the Lebanon National Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Rev. Colin McDaniel and Rev. Evan Tedder will officiate the funeral.

NELL BLEVINS, 95, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 
Nell Blevins, 95, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Gilbert Colvin and Mary Estelle White Colvin, was born May 15, 1925 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 2:57 A.M., Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
Nell professed faith in Christ and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and WMU for many years.  She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for several years. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom after some 34 years service and was the first female supervisor. Nell was active in the Democratic Women’s Club and The Business and Professional Women’s Club. Her favorite pastimes were traveling and shopping.
 
Nell united in marriage to Edwin Blevins November 17, 1942 and he preceded her in death June 26, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gil Blevins June 26, 2018.

Kevin Dean Mings, 53, of Campbellsville, KY son of Jesse Lee Mings, Jr. and the late Lucy Frances Gabehart Mings, was born June 10, 1967 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 4:54 P.M., Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
He professed faith in Christ at a young age and was a member of The Vineyard. Kevin was a salesman with Consolidated Paper Group and a real estate agent with Century 21. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. His love and compassion for others shined.

Jewel Lynette Broadhurst, 63, of Jeffersonville, Indiana (formerly of Campbellsville, KY), the daughter of Mary (Scroggins) Jones of Campbellsville and the late Delmar Jones, was born July 15, 1957 in Springfield, Illinois and departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2020 in Jeffersonville at the Clark Memorial Hospital. 
 
Jewel operated a cleaning service, but found time for gardening, interior designing, her grandkids and Sunday dinners.
 
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Broadhurst; 1 sister and 1 brother: Stephanie Michelle Jones and David Allen Jones.

Jeanne Eleanor Franklin Lobb, 72, of Green County, KY, daughter of the late Gene Arthur James Franklin and Hermione Stevenson Franklin, was born on  July 10, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas and departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2020 at her home. 
 
Jeanne had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Church of the Nazarene. She had also been employed with Cracker Barrel Country Store as a server.

ALMA FRANCIS "DO" GUNN, 68, TAYLOR COUNTY, KY

 
Alma Francis Catherine “Do” Embry Gunn, 68, was born August 10, 1952 in Taylor County, KY to the late Samuel Issac Embry and Robert Pauline Patterson. She departed this life Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. 
 
Alma had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon and served as missionary president and senior choir director. She was also a member of the women’s ministry, usher board, and women in white. She worked as the youth director for many years as well. She taught Sunday school, bible school, and recently drove the van for the church youth programs. She was a part of the Red Hat Group and Old Time Rock and Roll Group of Campbellsville. She also loved decorating the church for every occasion. She took pride in making delicious desserts for her church family and wore the prettiest hats. She obtained her associates degree at Lindsey Wilson College and was a social worker at the Christian Care Community, Adanta, and Brass. She was united in marriage to her husband Gilbert Lee Gunn, Sr. 
 
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Linda Gunn.

Charles Herbert Tucker, 76, of Campbellsville, KY son of the late Fountain and Nellie (Childers) Tucker, was born November 20, 1944 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Louisville. 
 
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Tullis) Tucker in 2008; two sisters and three brothers: Zelma Tucker, James Tucker, Howard Tucker, Ray Tucker and Beatrice Rodgers.
 
Charles was a farmer and attended the Good Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed cutting timber, raising cows, collecting arrowheads, ax throwing and chainsaw contests and tractor pulls, but whenever he could he was found spending some quality time with his dog Jackie.

Ruth Jean Murdock Coomer, 76, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born to the late John Edwin Murdock and Ruth Maria Akhurst Murdock on August 19, 1944 in New York City, New York.
 
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, John David Murdock.

Mabel Dix, 94, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Richard Harding Hunt and Maggie Whitehead Hunt, was born June 20, 1926 in Taylor County, KY.  She died at 12:37 P.M., Saturday, November 21, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. Mabel was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and Weight Watchers.
 
Mabel united in marriage to Dean Dix May 14, 1949 and he preceded her in death October 2, 1995. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters: Richard Hunt, Kermit Hunt, Everett Hunt, Ennis Hunt, Oliver Hunt, Eunice Rose and Iva Hunt.

WILLIAM LEONARD MILBY, 89, GREENSBURG, KY

 

William Leonard Milby, 89, was born July 9, 1931 in Green County, KY to the late Rosie Lee Durrett and Luther Thomas Milby. He departed this life Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Green Hill Manor Nursing and Rehab.

 

He made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a dairy farmer, avid Dodgers fan, and a baseball player on the Cecilia Baseball Team. 

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Elaine Sapp Milby whom he wed on July 9, 1960, his siblings: Cecil, Raven, Luther and Rudolph Milby.

Dixie Wise, 88, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Charlie Clarence Yates and Lillie Graham Yates, was born February 19, 1932 in Marion County, KY. She died at 11:17 P.M., Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
Dixie professed faith in Christ and was a member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church. She was a retired instructor of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after 38 years of service. She was a very kind, patient and compassionate person, always willing to help anyone in need with a smile on her face. She loved her flowers and mowing her lawn and was a very respected and trustworthy friend, having served in the capacity of power of attorney for ten people. She selflessly loved and protected her family and made sure their every need was met.
 
Dixie united in marriage to Charles Junior Wise October o2, 1948 and he preceded her in death February 20, 2002.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kaye Cox December 16, 2000; a son, Jerry Wayne Wise October 2, 2009; a great-grandson, Blake Whitlow and 4 brothers and 1 sister:  Walter Yates, Arvil Yates, Eddie Yates, Clarence Yates and Catherine England.

Richard Lee Woodhouse, 80, of Campbellsville, KY son of the late Everett Woodhouse and Mary Cress Woodhouse, was born July 26, 1940. He graduated to heaven November 16, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
A United States Navy Veteran, he was a retiree from Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He had a professing and strong faith in Jesus Christ and his passion was guiding others into the truth of Biblical living.  He was an active member at Campbellsville Baptist Temple and taught Bible lessons for many years. 
 
Dick enjoyed so many things in life like music, the outdoors, laughing and spending time with family and working with his hands.  He was especially gifted in woodworking and he gave most of his creations to family and friends.  He was always looking for ways to help someone in need.  In his final years, he was an avid prayer warrior for family and friends.

Roger Dale Willis, 68, son of the late Richard Ray and Mary Belle (Gunter) Willis, was born in Taylor County on September 27, 1952. He departed this life on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at his home in Campbellsville after an extended illness.

 

Mr. Willis was a retired employee of the City of Campbellsville. He was a devoted father and grandfather; he loved the outdoors, and was especially fond of the time he spent hunting or fishing with his children and grandchildren.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Marie Marcum, 43, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of Clyde and Mary Sue Stephens of Campbellsville, KY was born in Fontana, California on September 24, 1977 and departed this life on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at her home in Campbellsville.
 
Jackie professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Ave. Baptist Church in Campbellsville, Kentucky. She was a former employee at Frost Arnett as an office worker for many years. Jackie was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, and sister. She loved to go on cruises and travel with her beloved husband, J.J. Jackie loved to spend time with her family and dogs, and she loved to swim and watch football.

Ernest Lee Walls, 89, of Campbellsville, KY passed from this life on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Taylor Regional Hospital. He was born in Taylor County to the late Jesse and Eunice (Galt) Walls.

 

Mr. Walls was a retiree from Coca-Cola Bottling and had served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.

Margaret professed faith in Christ and was an active member of Spurlington United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed her Bible study group.

Maggie Ruth Anderson, 92, was born August 31, 1928 in Green County, KY to the late Flora Greene Penick Anderson and Robert Wilson Anderson. At 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at her home in Campbellsville, God saw fit to call her home. 
 
Ruth professed hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Ruth was the loving wife of Santa Fee Anderson (Fields) who preceded her in death on October 4, 2018. They were married for 71 years. Besides her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Brenda Anderson Taylor (2005) and Peggy Lee Anderson (2015); 2  sisters: Mattie Louise Groves & Bessie Davis Anderson; and 4 brothers: Jim Alonzo, Carl Ellis, Lucian Farris and Willis Fred.
 
Ruth worked hard on the farm alongside Fields, Bessie, and Harvey. Later, she worked at Fruit of the Loom and at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in the purchasing department and as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Ruth loved to sing old gospel songs with Brenda and Peggy. When she was younger, she played the organ. She also loved chatting on the phone with her friends and visiting her girls. She and Fields moved to Campbellsville five years ago. Diane was her caregiver. Ruth will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.

Dalton Kyle Minton, 16, of Greensburg, KY (formerly of Louisville, KY) was born September 29, 2004 in Louisville to Billy Minton and the late Amy Smallwood. He passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at his home.
 
Dalton enjoyed video gaming, video game programming, and Anime. He was a Sophomore at Green County High School, where he was in advanced classes. Dalton loved music, reading, and was passionate about animals. He enjoyed hiking with his brother and father.

DR. DAVID SIMMONS, 57, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Dr. David G. Simmons, 87,  of Campbellsville, KY passed from this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at his home. Born in Green County on August 18, 1933 to the late Austin and Reba (Hill) Simmons.

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith and attended The Rock Church in Campbellsville. Dr. Simmons was a graduate of Green County High School, the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, and had attained the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force. His generous heart will be dearly missed by those who knew him best.

Funeral Service: Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY with Bro. Jeff Newton officiating. The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.

 

A private burial will be in the Mt. Washington Cemetery.

BILL NEWCOMB, 80, TAYLOR COUNTY, KY

 
Bill Newcomb, 80, of Cub Run, KY (formerly of Finley) son of the late Patrick Newcomb and Viola Sapp Newcomb, was born April 24, 1940 in Taylor County, KY.  He died at 12:02 P.M., Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Cub Run.   
 
Bill professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Bill was a retired auto mechanic and enjoyed working on cars.

Zelma Irene (Waymon) Russell, 94, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Roby Waymon and Cora Ellen Waymon was born in Russell Springs, KY on November 4, 1926 and departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY. 
 
Zelma professed her faith in Christ and was of Baptist faith. She attended Speck Ridge School in her early years of life.  She worked at Fruit of the Loom for many years prior to moving to Louisville, Kentucky, where she retired from General Electric Manufacturing as a production worker. 
 
She united in marriage to Harlin Miller Christie in 1943, who preceded her in death in 1954.  She united in marriage to Robert Allen Russell, who  preceded her in death on January 16, 2005. Zelma was also preceded in death by one sister, Rosie Milsap and one grandchild, Angela Rae Brockman.

Helen Walker, 87, the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Kidwell) Taylor, was born January 30, 1934 in Taylor County and departed this life on Sunday, November 8, 2020 in Campbellsville at Grandview Nursing and Rehab. 
          
Helen was an employee of Fruit of the Loom over 40 years, a homemaker, and was of the Baptist Faith. She loved nature and enjoyed feeding the squirrels, but especially cherished the time spent with her family.
          
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Clifford “Tom” Walker, two brothers and two sisters: Joe and Michael Taylor, Peggy Bishop and Florence Mitchell.

Bryan Dale Wagler, 40, of Greensburg, KY son of Dale William "Bill" Wagler and Janet (Stoll) Wagler of Greensburg, was born on Tuesday, April 15, 1980 in Daviess County, Indiana and departed this life on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the U.K. Healthcare in Lexington, KY of liver failure and other health issues. 


He was a faithful member of Summersville Mennonite Church and loved to sing. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors, friends, and dearly loved his nieces and nephews.

Doris Lorraine Beams, 91, the daughter of the late R.C. and Mary (Erwin) Gowen, was born June 16, 1929 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab. 
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Pentecostal faith.  She was a former Fruit of the Loom employee, as well as managing a custodial service, and raised chickens commercially until a fire destroyed the operation. Doris loved flowers, crocheting, and sewing.  She was also an artist and wrote poems - two of which were published.
          
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Bloyd Beams in 2007, a step-son: William Bloyd, Jr., a brother: Finis Gowen, two sisters: Carolyn Dickens and Charlotte Crowe and a granddaughter: Jill Rainwater.
