Gary Willard England, 70, of Green County, KY was born June 7, 1953 in Williamsburg, KY to the late Helen Brummett England. He departed this life on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at his home in the Summersville community of Green County.

 

Gary had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church. He retired from Airguard Corporation in Campbellsville. Gary loved farming with his father-in-law, Norvel Marcum. He also loved going fishing with his sons.

Laura Jean Cox, 75, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late Berry Cox and Christine Bottoms Cox, was born May 22, 1948 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at her residence. 

         

She was a former employee of General Electric and enjoyed reading and spending time with family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Cox; one son, Dewayne Hayes; and five brothers and sisters: Earl Cox, Shelby Cox, Dannie Cox, Dorlene Cox Perkins, and Darrell Cox.

 

Mrs. Cox requested a direct burial in the Jones Chapel Cemetery and there will be no services.

 

Marilyn Joyce (Wilcox) Salsman, 86, Lexington, KY

 

Marilyn Joyce (Wilcox) Salsman, 86, of Lexington, KY, died peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023. She was born on January 23, 1937, the daughter of George Wilcox, a World War II US Navy veteran, and Ruby Close Wilcox, a spunky and resourceful domestic engineer.

 

Marilyn was known for her unfailing kindness, interpersonal warmth, and her abiding faith. She will be greatly missed by her cherished family and friends.

 

Marilyn was the elder of their two children and was curious, gregarious, and affable as a youth. She attended Buffalo High School in Buffalo, KY, and graduated in 1955 before working at the Larue County ASCS office (part of the Agricultural Department) in Hodgenville, KY.

 

She married her high school sweetheart, Billy Joe Salsman in 1962 during a private ceremony in Annapolis, MD. They built their lives together in Hodgenville, KY, while Billy was employed as a park ranger at the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park. During that time, they had three sons together: Steven, David, and John Mark. She was a devoted wife and mother and was active in her local church community, finding a resolute meaning and purpose through her Christian faith as well as an outlet for her charitable interests and her passion for supporting others through prayer. After her sons grew older and the family moved to Campbellsville, KY, she began serving as a Teacher’s Aide for the Campbellsville Independent School District. The importance of education was a core value to her and she volunteered as a math and reading tutor to support students who needed additional assistance.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Salsman, and a brother, Don Wilcox.

Fran McDonald, 77, of Elkorn, KY, daughter of the late William Glover and Hattie Church Glover, was born June 17, 1946 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Wedneday, October 25, 2023 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation facility.  

 

Fran professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. She was a long time member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Fran enjoyed crafting & sewing, cooking, canning, and shopping.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a farmer, and a retired member of the Hardyville Volunteer Fire Department.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jean Polston Rayburn in November 1993; a son, Darryl Ray Rayburn; a sister, Alma Mae Morgan; and three brothers: Wilson Rayburn, Lee Thomas Rayburn, William Rayburn.

Susan Ann Graham, 75, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late William and JoAnn (Lively) Volk, was born July 5, 1948 in Jefferson County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at her residence.

         

She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Amazon and was of the Christian Faith. Susan enjoyed cooking, watching her TV shows, including the Hallmark movies, especially during Christmas.

         

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Daryl “Dink” Graham; two sons: Marshall Graham, Jr and Greg Herbig; and a brother & sister: William “Billy” Volk and Barbara Fritz.

Rollin “Gene” Underwood, 91, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Leslie Underwood and Elsie Berry Underwood Pierce, was born July 22, 1932 in Taylor County. He died at 6:35pmET on Sunday, October 22, 2023 in Elizabethtown.

 

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army.

 

Gene was an employee of Thor Power Tool and later retired from Fermi-Lab. Gene loved his family very much. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed bowling, car shows and bird watching.

 

He united in marriage to Shirley “Cindy” Wright and she preceded him in death. He later united in marriage to Mary Katherine Hudson June 23, 1999.

Keith Bryant, 79, Campbellsville, KY

 

Keith Bryant, 79, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Coy Bryant and Eula Grant Bryant, was born May 18, 1944 in Taylor County. He died at 12:36pmET on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Campbellsville.

 

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mannsville Christian Church. Keith had a long career in auto-body repair and was well-known for his ability to turn anything on wheels into something show-ready. He taught his girls to identify a bad paint job from a mile away, and how to sand Bondo. He never lost his passion for vintage cars and there wasn’t a vehicle (pre-1970) he couldn’t identify- from 500 yards, with only a glance at a moving headlight. Keith also loved to hunt, spend time in the woods, and build and repair old guns.

 

He united in marriage to Connie Lou Fisher January 24, 1986 and she preceded him in death May 11, 2022.

Junior Ray Parson, 82, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Hayes and Mazetta (Norris) Parson, was born April 16, 1941 in Metcalfe County, KY and departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Taylor Regional Hospital. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Jesus Name Church. He was a former maintenance and construction employee for the State of Kentucky, a constable, and was a member of the Pitman Masonic Lodge # 124 F&AM. Junior enjoyed mowing and care taking of the Arrowhead Ranch in Campbellsville.

Paul Shively, 80, Campbellsville, KY

 

Paul Shively, 80, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Robert Shively and Nannie Harden Shively, was born March 24, 1943 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 5:54 A.M., Saturday, October 21, 2023 in Campbellsville.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Paul Shively was a friend to many and a stranger to no one. If you were fortunate enough to know him, you knew that he loved his family and had an unwavering faith in Jesus. A natural hard worker, Paul retired from Parker-Kalon but also owned and operated a logging and sawmill business. Even in retirement, he was often asked to “walk timber” and mark trees for people. Paul also enjoyed taking care of his farm where he raised livestock, tobacco, corn, beans, and hay.

 

Paul united in marriage to Sherry Wise August 28, 1971.

He was of the Christian faith and loved spending time with family and friends, listening to rap music, tattoos, paintball, working on cars, and was especially looking forward to being a new dad.

Betty Curry Brandon, 89, Fayetteville, North Carolina (Green Co. Native)

 
Betty Curry Brandon, 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at her home in Fayetteville, North Carolina with family at her side. She was born on October 18, 1933 in Exie, KY to Noah Marvin and Mandy Bird (Young) Curry. 
 
Betty graduated from Greensburg High School on May 15, 1952 and wed the love of her life, her soulmate, Thomas Allen Brandon the following day on May 16, 1952 at Greasy Creek Baptist Church in Exie. To this union were born two children, Loyd Gregory Brandon and Susan Lynn Brandon. “Tommy” preceded Betty to their eternal home on April 14, 1998. 
 
Tom joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and their military travels took them to Louisiana, France, California, and Texas before returning home to Kentucky where Betty retired from Sears Roebuck & Co in Elizabethtown. In 1995, Tom and Betty moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona to enjoy retirement with their grandchildren. Following Tom’s passing, Betty moved to Fayetteville, NC with her children in 2005.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by four sisters and six brothers Vernon Curry, Gracie Burns, Veotra Warf, Garvis Curry, Gorman Curry, Jeannette Fleitz, Virginia Curry, James Freeman Curry, Wendell Curry, and Milton Curry. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan William Brandon.

Will loved camping at Pine Haven in the summer most of his life. He was an avid race fan of dirt and asphalt. Charles Ancil Reynolds, 92, Campbellsville, KY

 

Charles Ancil Reynolds, 92, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Stanley Reynolds and Birdie Thompson Reynolds was born on February 14, 1931 in Marion County, KY. He passed at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Campbellsville.

 

He professed faith in Christ as a young boy was baptized and was of the Baptist Faith. Ancil was a well known successful businessman in Campbellsville. He owned and operated Ancil Reynolds Used Cars which he started in 1954. Before the car business when younger he farmed and worked nights at Fruit Of The Loom while starting the car business. He retired in 1996 and the business is still in operation with two of his sons as owners. He served his country honorably in the National Guard. Ancil was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Father-in-law, Brother-in-law, and Friend. He enjoyed being with family, traveling, playing Rook with friends, spending winters in Florida with his wife, Jewell, camping, car racing, shopping and boating.

 

He united in marriage to Jewell Dean Lemmon December 24, 1949. She preceded him in death March 21, 2010.

 

He is survived by five sons and one daughter: Michael Reynolds and wife, Patti of Campbellsville,  Libby Fudge and husband, Billy Joe of Columbia, Terry Reynolds and wife, Ellen, Duane Reynolds and wife, Margaret, Steven Reynolds and wife, Patty and Todd Reynolds and wife, Vonda all of Campbellsville; fourteen grandchildren: Michelle Herron , Michael Shawn Reynolds and  Shay Knifley of Columbia, Cameron Feese of San Diego, California, Prindle Hinton of Louisville, Brandon Reynolds and McCall Thompson of Campbellsville, Dustin Reynolds of Bowling Green, Tyler Reynolds, Joshua Reynolds, Adam Reynolds, Drew Reynolds and Megan Bailey of Campbellsville and Jordan Reynolds  of  Lexington; thirty-two great-grandchildren; eight great-great- grandchildren; one brother, Darrel Reynolds; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Patsy McDonald, 73, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Hubert Cox and Evelyn Noel Cox was born March 16, 1950 in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

 

Patsy united in marriage to Joe Mcdonald on July 25, 1967. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2013.
 

She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Patsy was a loving nana and enjoyed being a homemaker.

Pauline Morrison Geary, 92, of Louisville, KY (a native of Greensburg), passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was born in Greensburg, KY on April 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Daniel B. and Bettie Morrison.
 
Pauline and her husband of 53 years, Ted Geary, owned and operated Convenient Food Mart in Fern Creek. They retired and returned to Greensburg where they farmed tobacco and raised cattle. Pauline was a member of Greensburg United Methodist Church.
 
In addition to her parents, she was aslo preceded in death by her husband, Ted Geary; a daughter, Rebecca; and by six sisters and two brothers.

Pamela Ann Fisher, 65, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of Robert Earl Fisher and the late Marcella Herron Fisher, was born February 7, 1958 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Monday, October 9, 2023.

 

Pamela professed faith in Christ and had attended South Campbellsville Baptist Church and was part of the Emmaus Community. She had served her country honorably in the United States Army. Pamela was employed as a Family Home Provider and loved caring for others. She enjoyed laughing and telling jokes, being silly, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and helping the needy. She truly had a servants heart.

Jerry Lee Williams, 73, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late David Williams and Eunice Stayton Williams, was born November 16, 1949 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Sunday, October 8, 2023 in Campbellsville after battling a long illness. 

 

Jerry professed faith in Christ and was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church. He retired from the Taylor County School District where he worked in the technology department. He was known by many as “The Computer Expert”. His helpfulness to others was one of his finest qualities. Jerry also built cherry furniture with his father and brother. He was rarely seen without a cup of coffee in his hand.

Mary Laverne Wethington, 97, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Thomas Walter Wethington and Alice Wethington, was born April 25, 1926 in Jefferson County, KY. She died at 8:06amET on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Casey County.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed spending her time visiting the sick, quilting, dancing and participating in church activities wherever she was needed. Mary also helped in starting the C & S mission store here in Campbellsville. 

 

Mary united in marriage to George Wethington on November 20, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1988.

Walter was of the Christian faith. He had been previously employed as an armored car attendant and also at McLane Distribution. Walter also faithfully served as a volunteer with the Campbellsville-Taylor County Rescue Squad for many years and loved his community. He was an avid U of L sports fan and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Brenda Thompson, 81, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Edwin C. Raffety and Gertrude Overton Raffety, was born May 4, 1942 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 9:57pmET on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in Campbellsville.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Brenda was a retired employee of Flav-O-Rich in Campbellsville. She dearly loved her family, was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Brenda was an animal lover, especially cats and often took in stray cats and paid for their care at The Animal Hospital and left donations to help care for other animals.

 

She united in marriage to Paul Thompson January 16, 1973.

Robert Keith Jeffries, 91, of Green County, KY, son of the late Mike Jeffries and Lee Beard Jeffries, was born August 27, 1932 and passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.

 

Mr. Jeffries had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Houks Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a Korean War Veteran, having served in the United States Army and was a supervisor at Clark Casual for many years.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Regina Carol Judd Jeffries on February 28, 2022, having united in marriage on December 16, 1955.
