Janet Osborne, 84, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Benjamin Hicks and Essie Faye Hayes Hicks, was born June 24, 1938 in Boone, North Carolina. She died at 6:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in Greensburg.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Janet was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She provided childcare for many children when she was younger and enjoyed playing outside and going fishing with them and her grandchildren.

 

She united in marriage to Darrell Osborne August 10, 1958 and he preceded her in death October 12, 2002.

Mildred Suzanne Hancock, 81, of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Otha Lee Shuffett and Catherine Moore Shuffett, was born June 3, 1941 in Green County and departed this life on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital.

 

Mildred had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liberty Separate Baptist Church. After 27 years, she retired as a teacher from the Green County School System.

He was a graduate of Taylor County High School where he was active in Future Farmers of America. Dustan was an avid fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals and Taylor County High School Cardinal Baseball.

Mildred had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the God’s Grace Church. She was a former healthcare giver and Fruit of the Loom worker. Mildred enjoyed taking care of her family, crocheting, needlepoint, painting and being a homemaker.
          
Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers: Sissy (Laura Lee) Harlson, Jeneva Shoffner, Anna Mae Shoffner, Edgar T, Ben F “Bimbo”, Joseph “Jobie”, Ronald and Donald Shoffner.

Mrs. Burress united in marriage to Lester Wallace Burress, and he preceded her in death on November 15, 2017.

Clarence Hayes "Todd" Gardner, 94, of Green County, KY passed away Monday at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. He was born on May 1, 1928 in Green County, a son of the late Earl Gardner and Stella Hay Gardner.

 

He had professed his faith in Christ early in life and was a faithful member of the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He was a lifelong farmer and tried to be a good steward of the land. His favorite saying: “Leave the woodpile a little higher than you found it”. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM 32nd Degree, Farm Bureau Member, a Kentucky Colonel, and a loving and caring husband and father.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary Jean Hodges Gardner on August 27, 2022 having united in marriage on May 13, 1953 in Summersville, KY; a son, Barry Neal Gardner on October 8, 1981; a brother, Rollin Gardner; and twin sisters: Mildred and Marguerite Gardner.

She united in marriage to Dale Miller March 22, 1953 and he preceded her in death September 19, 2014.

He professed faith in Christ and attended Mannsville Christian Church. Roger was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom after 40+ years of service. He was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather.  Roger enjoyed farming and loved Allis Chalmers tractors.

Henry Thomas “Tommy” Donan, 85, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Elbert Donan and Mathis Warren Donan, was born November 24, 1937, in Green County, Kentucky. He died at 12:47 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Campbellsville. 

 

Tommy professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church and previously Summersville Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a retired employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation’s engineering department. Tommy loved traveling with Betty in their RV, especially heading to Florida for the winter as “snow birds”. Each weekday morning, you could find him at Hardee’s, talking with his friends. Also, no one appreciated a good joke more than Tommy.

Nancy professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church, where she led music and was a Sunday School teacher. She had also played piano at Mt. Washington Baptist Church before she married. Nancy was a retired Branch Manager of Citizens Bank and Trust Company after 49 years of service. She was a former President of the Gideon Auxiliary. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed making delicious and beautiful cakes for special occasions.

Ruth Osborne, 95, of Elkhorn, KY died Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Omer Lee Cox and Flossie Catherine Roberts, and was born May 15, 1927 in Lincoln County.

 

Ruth professed her faith in Christ and attended Feathersburg First Church of God. She loved crocheting, gardening, and mowing her yard. Ruth worked in Food Services at Taylor County High School for over 10 years.

 

She was united in marriage to Paul Osborne on March 12, 1945 and he preceded her in death in March 2011.

She professed faith in Christ and attended Mt. Zion Church of God. Mildred was an awesome mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived life to the fullest and usually had a smile and bubbly personality. Mildred dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for them. She loved flowers and created beautiful flower beds.

 

She united in marriage to Charles Thompson October 1956 and he preceded her in death May 18, 2012.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was also retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. after 22 years of service.

 

She united in marriage to Verlis Wayne “Shorty” Bloyd on November 25, 1966 who preceded her in death on April 10, 2020. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers & a sister: Daryl Judd, Philip Judd, Clellen Judd and Helen Judd.

Fred Krznarich, 84, Buffalo, KY


Fred Krznarich, 84, of Buffalo, KY, son of the late Stephen Krznarich and Edna McLean Krznarich, was born May 26, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio.  He died at 11:45 P.M., Friday, December 9, 2022 in Buffalo.

 

He professed faith in Christ and served his country honorably with the military police in the United States Army and the Army National Guard of Ohio. Fred was a graduate of Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School and worked as a salesman and security officer for many different corporations over the years.  He will be remembered as a great outdoorsman; he shared his love for hunting, fishing and animals with his family and left them with memories they will always cherish. Fred and his wife, Louise, were excellent hosts and took great joy in entertaining family and friends at their “Rolling K Ranch” and they made sure every guest always felt very welcome.  He enjoyed outdoor entertainment and was active in many historical frontier reenactments.

 

He united in marriage to Vera Louise Hash June 28, 1979 and she preceded him in death October 25, 2022 after 43 years of marriage.

Philip Hay, 69, of Campbellsville, KY, formerly of Greensburg, son of the late Philip Hay and Duval Sidebottom Hay, was born on May 18, 1953 in Louisville and departed this life on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at U.K. Healthcare in Lexington.

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church where he was a trustee, worked diligently and chaired the finance committee. He worked for the Kentucky Transportation Department 32 years as a materials engineer. After retirement he loved farming, raising cattle and grooming the fields. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a superb storyteller. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Philip Marshall Hay on February 6, 2004.

Owen was an employee of Greybeal Aluminum as an installer. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Church of The Nazarene. Owen enjoyed loafing at The Ol’ Mule Store, piddling on the tractor and spending time with family and friends.

George Edward Eon, 69, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Lexington. He was born on February 21, 1953 in La Grange, Texas to Moses and Marjorie Eon. 
 
He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Communications. George began his career as a radio and news director in Texas before moving to Campbellsville in 1987, where he established his financial practice with Edward Jones. He went on to become a regional leader and general partner for Edward Jones and retired in 2009 after 22 years with the firm. George was an avid sports fan, particularly of University of Kentucky and University of Texas basketball, and Dallas Cowboys football. He also loved to travel and did so extensively with his family and friends. He was known as a generous, loving, and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and community member and friend to all. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville.

She had put her faith in Jesus Christ and was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church in the Bengal Community of Taylor County. She was very active with some of her activities over the years being a Sunday School teacher, Christmas Program leader, Women’s Missionary Union member, on the Hospitality Committee helping with church fellowship  meals, coordinating  Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and preparing VBS refreshments that included her beloved Kool Aid slush many years.

She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a dedicated Christian. Velda loved playing piano and singing, especially old time gospel music. Velda was a retired family caregiver and farmer. Velda enjoyed quilting, gardening and working in her flower garden. Hobbies also included canning, freezing, driving the tractor and raking hay.

 

She united in marriage to Jimmy Shofner December 24, 1955 and he preceded her in death December 22, 1981. She later united in marriage to Howard Stevenson and he preceded her in death October 7, 2011.

Faubus Cox Switzer, 62, of Bardstown, KY passed from this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at his home. He was born in Jeffersontown, KY on June 14, 1960 to the late Richard Mitchell and Mildred Lucille (Wilkins) Switzer.

William "Tonnie" Douglas Ford, 87, Campbellsville, KY

 

Tonnie Ford, 87, of Campbellsville, KY passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2022. He was born on April 10, 1935 in Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Joe and Evelyn Ford.

 

Tonnie was a graduate of Taylor County High School where he was a star basketball player. He was a Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Hickox. Tonnie graduated from radiology school in Ashville, NC. He was the Director of Laboratory & Pathology at Taylor Regional Hospital where he retired in 1998. He later served on their Board of Directors from 2000 – 2009. Tonnie professed faith in Jesus Christ and attended Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was the president of the Sandy Y Social Club where he spent many hours hunting, camping and sharing tall tales and laughs with his friends. Tonnie enjoyed daily visits to Druthers Restaurant where he and friends drank coffee and swapped stories, gossip, current events and political views.

 

In 1958, he married Vangie Gurganus Ford. They were married for 54 years prior to her passing. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Joan Mann.

Sharon Faye Pike, 68, of Elkhorn, KY passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 in Campbellsville after an extended illness. She was born in Knifley, KY on December 18, 1953 to the late Shelby J. and Gracie (Perkins) Warren. 
 
Sharon was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and later was a nursing home caregiver. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Pike, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2014.

Edd Wayne Thompson, 76, of Buffalo, KY, son of the late Orvis Thompson and Stella T. Stilts Curry, was born on Wednesday, October 23, 1946 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at his home. 

 

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Hodgenville United Methodist Church. He was a former service writer for Ford Motor Company and was an avid U.K. Wildcat fan.

Jessica June Raikes, 48, of Greensburg, KY, formerly of the Mannsville community, daughter of the late James Albert Raikes and Sharon Elaine Stayton Raikes, was born September 9, 1974 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life Thursday, December 1, 2022 in Greensburg. 

 

Jessica was of the Christian Faith. She enjoyed wrestling, country music, working puzzles, coloring and drawing.

William "Bill" Blane Moran, 83, Greensburg, KY

 

William “Bill” Blane Moran, age 83, was born March 26, 1939 to Oather and Christine Moran in Greensburg, KY and died Monday, November 28, 2022 at his favorite place, “The Farm.”

 

He was a Korean War Veteran, serving the country in the U. S. Army. He professed his faith in Jesus when he was 30 years old and was happy to serve in the Lord’s Army taking on various roles such as:  Adult Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, serving on the Missions Committee and helping with visitation and any other needed areas. He served as the head of the Softball League in Chicago for area churches for many years. He retired after 21 years from A & P Grocery and sixteen years from Berry Bearing in Chicago. He moved to Campbellsville after retiring where he worked eleven years with Hord’s Landscaping. After his love of God, family, country came “The Farm”, and all his animals including Cindy, his “Queen Dog.”

 

He was preceded in death by a son, James Wayne Moran and a sister, Rachel Blankenship.

Genevieve H. McKinley, 94, Leitchfield, KY

 

Genevieve H. McKinley, 94, of Leitchfield, KY (formerly of Campbellsville, KY), daughter of the late William Lewis Hansford and Ruby Garrison Hansford, was born April 25, 1928 in Casey County, KY. She died at 12:19 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2022 in Leitchfield.    

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church, but had most recently been attending Leitchfield United Methodist Church. Genevieve was a retired retail sales employee. Genevieve loved children and Christmas. She was a very resilient person and generous giver, having raised her two sons as a single mom for several years. Her sons said “she was an expert with making do with what she had and could stretch a dollar farther than anyone they knew.” 

 

She united in marriage to George M. McKinley, Sr. and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1999.

Lowell Harris, 88, Campbellsville, KY

 

Lowell Harris, 88, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Thurman Brady “T.B.” Harris and Lela  Frost Harris, was born January 19, 1934 in Parrish, Alabama. He died at 5:32 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2022 in Campbellsville. 

 

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Lowell was a retired English teacher with Cannelton High School in Indiana and was active in the Indiana Teachers Association. He loved folk music and playing the guitar. He also jogged several miles every day and over the years, had jogged over 25,000 miles.

 

He united in marriage to Carolyn Hayes February 2, 1957.
