JERRY SAPP, 81, FINLEY, KY

 
Jerry Sapp, 81, of Finley, KY son of the late Herbert L. and Naomi (Benningfield) Sapp, was surrounded by his family when he passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at his home. 
 
Jerry had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Mr. Sapp was a rural letter carrier and served the people and businesses of Taylor and Marion Counties over 45 years. 
 
As an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt (especially squirrels), and was passionate about leaving nature better than he found it. The solidity of his genuine heart and honest spirit is evidenced in those he leaves behind.
 
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Joanna Sapp; and 9 siblings: Aileen, Glendale, Keith, Donald, Francis, Phillip, Nancy, Roger, and Junior.

There will be a private funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Sapp on Monday, November 2, 2020 with interment to follow in the Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations of St Jude’s Research Hospital or the Nature Conservancy of Kentucky. Those can be made in person at the funeral home, or online through the “How Can I Help” tab on the front page of the funeral home's website.

Commie Edith Underwood Caulk, 79, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Bennie Underwood and Elsie A. Underwood, was born April 5, 1941 in Taylor County, KY.  She died at 1:24 P.M., Thursday, October 29, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
Commie professed faith in Christ and was a member of Union Separate Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Commie enjoyed her children, life, and working in her flowers.
 
Commie united in marriage to James Scott and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1967.  She later united in marriage to Bobby Caulk in 1969.

Thelma Ward Curry, 78, was born July 2, 1942 in Green County, KY to the late Benjamin and Emma Berry Ward.  She departed this life Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her home.
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Green Hill Baptist Church. She was a Customer Service Representative for Kentucky Farm Bureau for 51 plus years. 
 
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Wayne Ward and Billy Ward.

ILA CHEWNING, 90, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 
Ila Chewning, 90, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Savannah Rollo Martin and Nella Patton Martin, passed away at 2:30 A.M., Sunday, October 25, 2020. She was born April 23, 1930 in the Lemmon’s Bend Community of Taylor County.
 
She professed faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church where she was a faithful member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Ila worked as a set sleeve operator 29 years before retiring from Fruit of the Loom to become a full-time grandma. Prior to her Fruit of the Loom career, she worked for General Telephone and the Corner Drug Store. Ila loved canning, quilting, embroidering, crafts, gardening and taking care of her flowers, especially her beautiful roses. She enjoyed cooking and spoiling family and friends with favorite country style meals and desserts.  Favorite activities also included playing Rook and Skip-Bo. As long as family and friends were involved, she would spend countless hours assisting and entertaining. Her family was her number one priority and real joy.

Elaine Chelf, 99, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late John Kessel and Blanch Workins Kessel, was born May 6, 1921 in Bureau County, Illinois. She died at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Greensburg.   
 
Elaine was a retired employee of Walmart in Campbellsville at the age of 87. She was also a former employee of CTS Knights in Illinois. Elaine enjoyed crafts and working. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
 
She united in marriage to Woodrow Chelf February 30, 1958 and he preceded her in death June 3, 2006.

Mr. Brown had made a profession of faith in Christ and had been baptized in the First Baptist Church. He had a passion for singing and was known to brighten the room when he entered, but his first love was his children. Mr. Brown loved being a father and cherished each moment he was able to spend with his family.

Lois Lorene Carroll, 89, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late John Clinton Williams and Celia Osborne Williams, was born November 9, 1930 in Shady Valley, Tennessee. She departed this life Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab.
 
Lois professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville First Church of God. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY where she worked for 38 years.
 
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Granville Carroll, on April 13, 1993.

Nancy Stillwell Foley, 75, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Wilbur Stilwell and Georgiana Rotschi, was born September 12, 1945 in Rockville Center, New York. She departed this life on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

 

Nancy professed faith in Christ and was a member Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church. She worked in banking in New York and Campbellsville, KY for thirty eight years. She was a member of the Mid Kentucky Chorus at St. Catherine for over ten years and a member of OLPH choir for over 20 years. She loved to garden, grow vegetables, and cook for her family.  Nancy loved to bowl in her spare time as her hobby.

Miss Armani Jo Coombs, the 41-day-old daughter of Phillip Coombs and Tiffany Jo Strom, was born on September 8, 2020 and passed from this life on October 18, 2020.
 
Though her earthly time was short, she won many hearts and felt the love and joy she brought to her family.

Mary Louise Young, 92, of Campbellsville, KY passed peacefully from this life on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 11:55 PM at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Marion County, KY on May 14, 1928 daughter of the late Hugh and Nora (Bottoms) Lanham.
 
Mary had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Springfield. She was a devoted woman, both to her family and her God, and had taught the Praying Hands Sunday School Class over 50 years. Mrs. Young was a homemaker and the beloved wife of Mr. Dalton Young, who preceded her in death in 2011.
 
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by 2 sons: James B. “Jimmy” Young, and William “Billy” Young; and 8 siblings: Stanley Lanham, Beatrice Tate, Garnett Lanham, Bobby Lanham, Paul Lanham, Gene Lanham, Daisy Berry, and Everett Lanham.

Jeffrey Wayne Montgomery, 51, of Hodgenville, KY (formerly of Campbellsville, KY), son of Jerry Wayne Montgomery and Phyllis Keith Montgomery was born June 4, 1969 in Campbellsville, KY. He departed this life on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Baptist East Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.  
 
Jeffrey united in marriage to Lois Montgomery on June 10, 2000 in Campbellsville, KY. He was employed as a Para-Educator with the Bullitt County Schools. Jeffrey was a devoted follower of Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner of Montgomery Off-Road Training Facility, an American Motorcycle Association Referee, CEO of Montgomery Ministries, a partner of Montgomery Custom Designs, and an active member of the Emmaus Community.

Helen G. Shofner, 95, of Campbellsville, KY was born on January 6, 1925 to the late Edwin and Susie (Caulk) Griffin. She departed this life on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at her home. 
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Robinson Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Shofner was a retired employee of the Taylor County School District, having worked in as a cook in the Taylor County Middle School over 30 years. On February 9, 1945, she united in marriage with James Lee “Jay” Shofner. They would remain a devoted couple until his death on October 26, 1992.
 
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Carolyn Hunt; an infant grandson: Gary Wayne York; and a great-grandchild: Riley.

Jesse Manasco, 80, of Campbellsville, KY son of the late Frank Manasco and Lema Webster Manasco, was born September 19, 1940 in Winfield, Alabama. He died at 12:25 A.M., Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Campbellsville.   
 
Jesse was a retired employee of Cox Interior in Campbellsville where he made fireplace mantels. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
 
He united in marriage to Charlene Grail, who was the mother of his children. Charlene preceded him in death and he later united in marriage to Louise Pierce Williams March 13, 2001.

Mr. Messer attended the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church and was a graduate of Taylor County High School Class of 2020. He was very active in FFA where he received numerous awards. He was employed as a logger and had a passion for being outdoors, playing basketball, and was looking forward to a job with the Division of Forestry.

Lonnie Dale Carter, 68, of Clayton, Georgia, son of the late Cornish M. "Pete" Carter and Pauline Patterson Carter, was born September 7, 1952 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Friday, October 16, 2020 at his home. 
 
Lonnie had made a profession of faith in Christ. He was retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. in Research and Development after 32 years of service. Lonnie was also a veteran having served in the United States Army, and member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124.
 
Mr. Carter was also preceded in death by a brother: Sammy Carter.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Fern Creek Christian Church. Diann was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Enro Shirt Factory. She had a beautiful spirit and was usually found smiling in spite of her difficulties. She loved playing bingo and listening to country music.
 
Diann was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Jean Hardesty.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. William was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, seng digging, riding 4-wheelers and watching Nascar races.  But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his daughters.

Sandy Rainwater, 76, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Edgar A. Cave and Marjorie Long Cave, was born May 11, 1944 in Gloucester, England.  She died at 3:22 A.M., Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in Louisville.    
 
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Bowman Street Separate Baptist Church. Sandy was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
 
She united in marriage to Gordon Rainwater December 19, 1981 and he preceded her in death August 31, 2004. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Julia Richerson and Jacqueline Joelle Cave.

A committed and caring teacher, Liz delighted in the hundreds of elementary students she taught over 27 years. She was a devout Catholic. She was an accomplished bridge player, strategic in ways that her family doesn’t fully understand, though some of her friends might. She added sparkle to everything. She loved antiques because she loved the humanity that she saw in them; she loved to learn about people and what they could do. She told great stories about little things that she saw the humor or sweetness in. Her specialties were pecan pie and corn pudding and she loved to keep people warm.

He was an Emergency Medical Technician with the Russell County EMS. He enjoyed  playing music with his family and friends, and was known to be a handy fix-it man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be dearly missed.

She departed this life on Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Greensburg at the Green Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. 
 
Mary Frances had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of South Summersville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Fruit of the Loom. Mary Frances was also an accomplished pianist, a member of the Greensburg Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 232, and a member of the Summersville Homemakers.
 
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Milby; 1 son, Kevin Alan Milby; and 5 siblings: Geneva Milby, Gary H. Milby, Marjore Young, Elbert Lewis Milby, and Kenneth Ray Milby.

DORVAL WELLMAN PRICE, 80, GREENSBURG, KY

 
Dorval Welman Price, 80, of Greensburg, KY departed this life at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 7th, 2020. He was born in the Grab community of Green County to Daniel Washington Price and Gladys Simpson Price on February 21, 1940.
 
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S.Navy where he served his country honorably as a photographic interpreter on highly classified missions. A P2V plane accident off the coast of Scotland ended his military career.
 
He lived his life fully beginning early in life with adventures as varied as a deck mate on the steamship Avalon, enlisting in the Navy, and working in the oil fields in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. He spent a long career in the auto repair business, beginning as the service and parts manager at Theiss Chevrolet in Greensburg, then at Lyon Beard Chevrolet in Campbellsville, Ky. He then became a businessman in Campbellsville, where he owned and operated Campbellsville Motors, Campbellsville Gulf service station, and a body shop and tire store.  He also operated a household moving service, Campbellsville Movers, and was an insurance adjuster, owning Wilson Adjustment Service. Throughout his various careers he was a lifetime farmer at heart, growing tobacco on his farm near Thurlow and after retirement he also enjoyed raising cattle. Dorval was an avid historian and interested in the genealogy of his family. Pat Ferrante, 94, of Campbellsville, KY son the late Francesco Ferrante and Maria Musian Ferrante, was born October 22, 1925 in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy.  He died at 2:38 A.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in Campbellsville.
 
He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Pat was a retired employee of Parker Kalon in Campbellsville after 30 years of service and was a former owner of Fastool, Inc.  Pat worked for the American Government during World War II training American soldiers on how to mechanic.  He enjoyed telling stories and having fun.
 
He united in marriage to Jean Sannicandro June 24, 1948 and she preceded him in death May 15, 2007.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. She was a teacher for the Green County Board of Education for 27 years, having taught at Summersville Elementary School, Pierce Elementary School, and the Green County Intermediate School. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and she was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Millers Chapel United Methodist Church. Christine was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and had also worked several years at Roger’s Foodland.

 

She united in marriage to Clay M. Rogers April 9, 1955.


Besides her husband, Clay M. Rogers of Campbellsville, she is survived by a daughter, Pam Rogers of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was an inspector for Tube Turns in Louisville, a Veteran of the United States Army and was of the Catholic Faith. He was a past Commander and lifetime member of the American Legion Dixie Post #220, and was an avid fisherman.

Maurice Coakley (Buddy) Bryant, 91, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Robert L. and Cecil Chelf Bryant was born February 8, 1929 in Taylor County.  He died on Friday, October 2, 2020.


He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Campbellsville.  Buddy was a retired operating engineer and belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150 in Illinois for more than 50 years. Buddy spent his career operating heavy equipment and helped to build hundreds of miles of roads in northern Illinois during his career. 
 

Besides his family and friends, Buddy loved hunting, fishing, wine making, and collecting hats and cars.  He also loved to travel and visit friends and family along the way.  Attending the Sandwich, Illinois (DeKalb County) Fair was a favorite annual event for him.

Rhodom "Pete" Edward Crabtree, 63, of Knoxville, TN, left this heavenly earth on September 29th, 2020. He was born in Campbellsville, KY on January 8, 1957 a son of Dwight Allen Crabtree (who survives) and the late Dorothy Crabtree of Campbellsville, KY. 
 
Pete was an avid baseball player. As a first generation college graduate, Pete chose to pursue his degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Acquisitions was Pete's chosen career for over 40 years. While he wasn't working, Pete enjoyed nothing more than spending time traveling with his wife and children, playing golf, riding his motorcycle, boating and listening to Metallica.

6 children: Kelsey Crabtree Maynard (Todd), Thomas Morgan Crabtree, Taylor Michael Crabtree, Katherine McLees Orem (Anson), Steven Hunter McLees (Kelley) and William "Liam" Harper McLees.

Funeral Service: Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:30am at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 110 Sugarwood Drive, Knoxville, TN with a Graveside Service and Entombment to follow in the Cemetery of Berry Highland West at 1:00pm
