Nolan “Jack” Compton, 78, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Elam L. Compton and Artie Bell Richards Compton, was born on Monday, October 11, 1943 in Adair County, KY and departed this life in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Greensburg Separate Baptist Church. Jack, also known as “JJ”, loved his CB radios and spent many hours talking to his friends. He was also known for his trading and loved a “good deal” as he would call it. He worked as a mechanic for many years and was a foreman of oil-field operations at W.L. Johnson Supply & Company for 20 plus years. During his retirement, he could often be found setting on his front porch talking to his family and friends. He treated everyone with kindness, he never met a stranger, and was always the first to help someone in need. Due to Jack’s strength of character, leadership, and dedication to others welfare above his own, he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by former Governor Paul E. Patton. Jack loved spending time with his family and friends, and telling many stories. He loved his dogs Booger and Duke and traveled nowhere without them. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was always teaching them a lesson on life and making sure they had everything they needed. The love he had for his sweet Ann was one of an epic love story, soulmates from the time they met until he left to go to his heavenly home. He made sure to tell everyone to take care of her and most importantly, he loved the Lord.
