Pamela Joan Greer, 65, was born May 3, 1957 in Bakersfield, California to the late Bernie Massey and Betty Katherine Elliott. She departed this life Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the University of Louisville Hospital.

 

Pamela had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Campbellsville Crossroads Community Church. She was a childcare provider.

HUBERT STANLEY "BUTCH" STONE, 77, GREEN COUNTY, KY

 

Hubert Stanley “Butch” Stone, 77, of the Center area of Green County, KY, son of the late Hubert Monroe Stone and Imogene Walkers Stone, was born on May 13, 1945 in Lumberton, North Carolina and departed this life on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. 

 

Butch had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Horse Cave. He was also a retired Supervisor for the Diamond Tobacco Company in South Carolina and also had served in the Army National Guard.

JASON ALAN JONES, 69, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Jason Alan Jones, 69, of Campbellsville, KY departed from this earthly life on Friday, September 23, 2022.  He was born March 22, 1953 in Campbellsville, KY to the late Milton Jones and Geraldine Jones (who survives).

 

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Jones.

 

Jason was a graduate of Taylor County High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He professed faith in Christ and was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as the worship pianist for 14 years. Jason recently retired from his lifelong passion as a dairyman, however, he remained active tending a garden, raising heifers, chickens, bees, and crops amid assisting as caregiver for his mother.He was a member of the Kentucky Holstein Cattle Club, Green River Beekeepers and a financial supporter of the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

 

Jason will always be remembered for his generosity to the Bengal community and beyond. He visited regularly with those in the neighborhood, delivering fresh produce from the garden, baked goods, eggs and honey. He wouldn’t go a day without checking on the wellbeing of extended family, friends and peers.

MARILYN (PAT) JOAN PERKINS, 91

 

Marilyn (Pat) Joan Hennessee Perkins, 91, was born on September 21, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late William F. and Florence I. Hennessee. She passed from this life on Monday, September 26, 2022 at her son’s home in Athens, Alabama.

 

She was married to the love of her life, James R. Perkins, for 56 years when he passed in 2003. She was baptized into Christ in Greasy Creek during a Gospel Meeting, and served the Lord faithfully as a member of the Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Green County High School. After raising her children she worked 6 years in the cafeteria at Taylor County High School, a job that she loved. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Homemakers club, an outstanding cook, and supportive of all of her children’s endeavors.

1 daughter: Patty Reynolds (Steven) of Campbellsville, KY

3 sons: Kenny Perkins (Dian) of Franklin, KY, Jim Perkins (Denise) of Georgetown, KY and Bill Perkins (Elayne) of Athens, Alabama

8 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild

LARRY KEITH DAVIS, 77, KNIFLEY, KY

 
Larry Keith Davis, 77, of the Knifley area of Taylor County, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY surrounded by his family. He was born on March 29, 1945 in Yuma, KY to the late Dan Davis and Ethel Reynolds Davis. 
 
Larry began his career as a police officer for Kentucky Commercial Vehicle Enforcement in 1972. Each workday, he made the sixty-mile drive to the Elizabethtown, KY post where he patrolled the I-65 corridor. After a 36-year career in law enforcement, Larry retired as captain in 2008. He was a member of the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police and made sure the whole family had the license plates to prove it. Additionally, he enjoyed serving as a committee member for Revisit Knifley, where he took great care to help organize his community’s yearly festival.
 
His family is most grateful for his caring nature, youthful curiosity, and spirit of perseverance that he instilled in each of us. Following his retirement, Larry continued to work on the farm each day with the same dedication of one still working a breadwinner’s 9-5. He had a passion for restoring antique tractors, meticulously caring for a rotating troop of barn cats, and collecting all sorts of items and trinkets that piqued his interest. Larry also enjoyed participating in the local tractor shows and parades. He was famously active, lively, and full of vigor until the very end.
 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Dannie Davis and infant siblings: Joanie and Johnnie Davis.

William Bill Shoemaker, 70, of Green County, KY, son of the late Harvey John Shoemaker and Laura Corson Shoemaker, was born on February 2, 1952 in Gibstown, New Jersey and departed this life on Monday, September 26, 2022 at his home in Greensburg. 
 
Bill was a Sewer Plant Operator at Gloucester County Utilities Authority for 30 years. He enjoyed Archery and was named World Junior Champion of Archery three years in a row. He also enjoyed being outdoors and deer hunting.

Betty Jean Malone Derringer, 79, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Danville, KY. She was born June 6, 1943 in Casey County, KY to the late Willie Malone and Dorothy Cox Malone.

 

Betty was a retired seamstress and worked at Fruit of the Loom for 36 years. She also worked at Amazon Distribution Center. Mrs. Derringer professed faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother.

BRENDA AKIN LUTTRELL, 75, GREENSBURG, KY

 

Brenda Akin Luttrell, 75, of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Curtis and Audrey Pickett Akin, was born on June 21, 1947 in Green County, KY. She departed this life on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Jennie’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Brenda had been employed by the Head Start program and in the physical therapy department at Taylor Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and loved Jesus, her family and purses. She especially enjoyed shopping and using the Amazon app to order what she wanted, which was then delivered directly to her at the nursing home. Her home for the past couple years had been Green Hill Nursing and Rehab. She loved her time at Green Hill and she brought joy to those who not only work there, but those who call it home as well.

ELSA KATHERYN HUMPHRESS, 88, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Elsa Katheryn Humphress, 88, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Stanley Lee and Alma Ross Kidwell Lee, was born September 15, 1934 in Monroe County, KY. She died September 18, 2022 in Hardin County, KY.

 

Elsa professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was united in marriage to Winfred Jolly Humphress on December 15, 1951 and was a committed wife for over 70 years. Katheryn dedicated her life to her husband, her family, and her home. She was also affectionately called Mama, Kat, Mama Kat, Grandma, and Mammy by all who loved her. Katheryn blessed others with her excellent cooking skills and never hesitated to feed anyone who graced her doorstep or was in need. As a devoted homemaker, she was the epitome of a ‘neighborhood momma’ and touched the lives of many children over the years. She loved tending to her flowers and plants and everything she touched flourished. Katheryn cherished having her very large family around her during the holidays and a full house was exactly what she desired.

He was a retired employee of General Motors. Bob enjoyed woodworking, bargain shopping, fishing, knife collecting, driving and kids and was of the Christian faith.

      

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kristopher Huff.

Clara Martha Gaskins Humphress, 84, of Columbia, KY, daughter of the late Elbert H. Gaskins and Mary Belle Pike Gaskins, was born March 15, 1938 in Ella, (Adair County) KY and departed this life on Monday, September 19, 2022 at U of L Health in Louisville, KY surrounded by her loving family.

 

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Christie Chapel United Methodist Church in Elkhorn, KY where she enjoyed singing. She was a beautiful, charming, kind, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Clara was a retired Cafeteria Worker from Danville Jr. High in Danville, IN, where she was very well known for her cookies. Among her favorite activities was reading mystery novels and enjoying her pets. In her spare time from cooking and baking she enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats and NASCAR.

Nellie Livesay, 94, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Alfred Gumm and Mattie Ann Seaborne Gumm, was born January 19, 1928 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 8:54 A.M., Monday, September 19, 2022 in Campbellsville. 

 

Nellis professed faith in Christ and was a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after 36 years of service. Nellie was a strong and amazing woman and endured hardships with grace and never lost her faith. Her family considered her to be a most loving person.

 

She united in marriage to Thomas Livesay September 10, 1949 and he preceded her in death October 18, 1977.

STELLA THOMAS MORRISON, 89, TAYLOR COUNTY, KY

 

Stella Thomas Morrison, 89, of the Mac Community of Taylor County, KY departed this life on September 20, 2022 only a short distance from the place where she was born on August 21, 1933, the daughter of the late Thomas Hendricks Johnson and Edmonia Cessna Howard Purcell Johnson. 
 

Stella was a homemaker. She was a meticulous housekeeper and an excellent cook. Before her health failed, she raised a large garden and enjoyed tending her chickens. She was a textbook of information about the families in her native community. Most importantly, Stella had professed faith in Jesus Christ when a young woman and lived a consistent Christian life. She was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. She read and studied her Bible each day until failing vision intervened. She adored music, particularly the old hymns, and was a talented pianist, having played the piano for the Sunday School Services at the Medco Nursing Home for many years. Stella was a jolly soul who loved games and playing practical jokes.

She was united in marriage to Elton Powers "Chief" Morrison on March 6, 1965. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2007. Stella was also preceded in death by an infant son, Stevenson Purcell Reynolds, on May 24, 1954.

Ramona Sue Ray, 65 of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Bill Hall and Cordia Hall, was born on April 17, 1957 in Green County and departed this life on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin. 

 

Ramona had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a former Deputy Jailer for Green County.

THOMAS EMERY JONES, 63, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Thomas Emery Jones, 63, was born on April 2, 1959 in Louisville, KY. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY. 

 

Tom graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Though he held various job titles in his lifetime, the title he most enjoyed was “Friend.”  Tom took great pleasure in helping friends and family whenever and however he could. There was never a task too small or too difficult. He loved to support those who needed help -whether with two legs or four.  His wit and humorous way of looking at life enhanced the lives of those who knew him and loved him. His family and friends will miss him dearly, as will his beloved beagle, Barney. Barney was adored by Tom, and he remained for him a constant, loyal companion and source of great happiness. 

 

Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. V.A. Jones & Elizabeth Lambirth Jones and Elmer & Mae Wright Hedgespeth; and his parents: Emery Earl Jones & Ava Hedgespeth Jones.

Betty Pauline Pike, 85, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Cecil Ray Philpott and Lottie Hudson Philpott, was born March 9, 1937 in Taylor County, KY. She went to her Heavenly home at 11:42 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

She professed faith in Christ and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Pauline was a retired cafeteria manager and bookkeeper at Shepherdsville Middle School. She was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook, and an avid reader.

 

She united in marriage to Ira Lynwood Pike and he preceded her in death September 15, 2006.

NORMAN D. CHRISTIE, SR., 90, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Norman D. Christie, Sr., 90, of Campbellsville, KY passed away at his home surrounded by his family on September 13, 2022. He was born in Marion County, KY off the Danville Pike on October 13, 1931, the son of the late Leander Shewmaker Christie and Norman Clelon Christie.

 

Norman served two tours in the military, Army & Army Air Corp in the Korean Conflict as a medic. Post his military service, Norman owned and operated the LaGwen Diner, was a home builder/contractor and worked for the Kentucky Department of Highways. The majority of his professional career was as a self-employed estate broker and certified real estate appraiser for over 45 years. Norman was a two-time President of the Kentucky Farm Managers and Rural Appraiser’s Society, served on the Campbellsville City Planning and Zoning Board for more than 25 years, and served as a board member for (2) four-year terms at the Taylor County Hospital. He placed great importance on these civic roles in the hopes of making his hometown a better place to live. Lastly, Norman had a remarkable talent to strike up a friendly conversation with anyone anywhere that would talk to him.

His wife of 66 years: Margaret Kirkland Christie

4 children: Norman D. Christie, Jr. (Mark Stemple), Debra Ann Waldron (Gary), Elizabeth Isabelle Christie and Thomas Kirkland Christie

Glenda Lou O’Hara, 66, of Campbellsville, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at her home.

She was born in Niagra Falls, New York on July 6, 1956.

 

Mrs. O’Hara was a retired home healthcare provider and was of the Methodist faith.

 

She was a talented gardener and took great pride in her flowers, and enjoyed collecting gnomes and fairies and other knick-knacks from yardsales and thrift stores.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Cone Trask, a brother, Freddy Trask, and a grandson, James “Jimmy Jim” Scully, Jr.

Geneva Sullivan, 90, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late John Jimmy Hunt and Julie Ben Caulk Hunt, was born March 30, 1932 in Marion County, KY. She died at 4:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Washington Baptist Church. Geneva enjoyed cooking and would feed anyone who visited. She loved to can, pick blackberries and quilt. Her family said she had a heart of gold.

 

She united in marriage to Leon Sullivan March 10, 1951 and he preceded her in death May 17, 2017.

WILLARD LINDSEY WISE, 99, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Willard Lindsey Wise, 99, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Ira E. Wise and Sarah Frances Phillips Wise, was born October 26, 1922 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 8:38 P.M., Sunday, September 11, 2022 in Campbellsville.

 

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church. Willard had worked with the Bill Glass Prison Ministry and had gone on a Baptist Mission Trip to Russia and Guatamala. Willard was a retired finish carpenter and still worked on his farm. He had built his own house with his wife, Delma and even cutting their own timber to build it with. They were members of the Christian Motorcycle Club and had ridden motorcycles in 48 states.

Calvin Montgomery, 73, of Lebanon, KY (formerly of Campbellsville, KY), a son of the late Walter Montgomery and Lovie Crawhorn Montgomery, was born September 2, 1949 in Adair County, KY. He died at 11:05 A.M. Friday, September 9, 2022 in Lebanon.   

 

He professed faith in Christ and attended Tucker Hill Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Cox Interior. Calvin was a great family man; he never met a stranger and would talk as long as anyone would talk to him. He enjoyed watching Andy Griffith reruns and Westerns and loved watching soap operas after work with Brenda but always claimed only she liked them. He was a big University of Kentucky Basketball fan and a fan of any team playing Duke University.

Walter Ronald Murley, 72, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Walter Bransford and Lillian Leona (Berry) Murley, was born January 23, 1950 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Thursday, September 8, 2022 in Greensburg at the Green Hill Manor. 
 
Walter served his country honorably, having served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam where he received a bronze service star, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Expert Rifle and Expert M-60 MG.
 
He united in marriage to Janet (Cissell) Murley on July 20, 1974, who preceded him in death in 2020. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Roger L. “Slick” Murley, Allen Murley and Ed Murley.

Tina Marie Karnes, 49, of Campbellsville, KY passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Norton Inpatient Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on December 25, 1972, a daughter of Linda Lichtsinn Hohn (who survives) and the late Carlie Hicks.  
 
Tina was a former employee of Druthers Restaurant and was of the Christian faith. She had an independent spirit, but took every available opportunity to help someone in need.
 
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie Hewitt; her father, Carlie Hicks; and a sister, Kimberly Hicks.

Henry Wayne Durham, 82, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late RIchard and Flossie (Patrum) Durham, was born in Greensburg on December 4, 1939 and passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Durham was a self-employed salesman; his friendly demeanor and natural inclination to talk served him well in his occupation. He enjoyed spending time with the sick and shut-in, and was always ready in a minute to respond to any need anyone may have, and he was especially proud of his family.

MARGARET EDITH PARSON, 86, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Margaret Edith Parson, 86, was born December 17, 1935 to Chester and Mary Eva Wise. She died at 11:34 A.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in Campbellsville, KY.

 

Margaret accepted Jesus as her Savior early in life and lived a life that pointed others to Christ and always served the Lord to the fullest. She was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Temple and was a retired secretary from Taylor County Elementary School. Margaret loved music and was an accomplished pianist who played for local churches as well as provided piano lessons for several years. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

 

She was a devoted wife to Samuel Parson for 64 years who preceded her in death in March of 2021. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Richard Wise, Albert Wise, Ernest Wise Sr., Floyd Wise, Martha Rhynearson, Bessie Whitlock, and Gladys Bowen.

Letha A. Davidson, 63, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Aileen (Hedgespeth) Allen, was born March 13, 1959 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab after a short stay. 

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. She was a former employee of 25 years at the Kroger on Broadway in Campbellsville. Annie, as she was mostly called by family and friends, enjoyed cooking and canning and spending time with her cats, which were her fur babies. Although she had no children of her own, she was a mother figure to many.

         

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joey Davidson in 2018 and two brothers: Brian Thomas Allen and David Ingram Allen.

DOROTHY DOOLEY CHAPPEL, 84, CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY

 

Dorothy Dooley Chappel, 84, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Leslie Price and Cora Martin Price, was born January 3, 1938 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 4:10 A.M., Monday, September 5, 2022 in Greensburg. 

 

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Zion Separate Baptist Church but later attended Elk Horn United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after some thirty plus years of service. She took pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often babysat them after her retirement from Fruit of the Loom.  She also loved her fur babies.

 

She united in marriage to James J. “Jim” Dooley June 9, 1956 and he preceded her in death November 4, 1990.  She later united in marriage to Gerald Chappel August 27, 1993 and he preceded her in death July 8, 2004.

Joshua Doyle “Josh” Simpson, Sr., 37, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of Carol Jean (Simpson) Brown and the late Doyle Eugene Waymon, was born January 14, 1985 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Campbellsville. 

 

Josh was a mold setter for Wilbert Plastics in Lebanon and was of the Catholic Faith.

William Henry Viers, 73, of Elkhorn, KY, son of the late James Burt Viers and Mattie Bell Bray Viers, was born October 16, 1948 in Taylor County and departed this life on Friday, September 2, 2022 at his home.
 
He professed his faith in Christ and was of Church of God faith, He was a retired construction worker after many years. William loved hunting and fishing and really enjoyed a good game of Rook.
 
He united in marriage to Marlyn Lou Doss on August 1, 1970 who preceded him in death on November 8, 2016.

Sharon D. (Brown) Harris Shults, 58, of Campbellsville, KY passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at her home. She was born in Chaplin, KY on July 11, 1964 to Audrey Mae (Coulter) Brown and the late William D. Brown. 

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was  a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Shults was an educator, working over 33 years as a teacher at Campbellsville Middle School. She absolutely loved her students, and took great pride in watching them grow and develop over the years.

Bridgette Denise Simpson, 55, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late William Fred Simpson, Jr and Shelia Mae Gumm, was born August 6, 1967 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Monday, August 29, 2022 in Campbellsville at her home. 
 
She was a former employee of Magnolia Alley Florist and was of the Christian Faith.
