GARY KEITH HUGHES, 70, ELKHORN, KY

 

Gary Keith Hughes, 70, of Elkhorn, KY, son of the late Robert Hughes and Connie Victoria Elliot, was born August 26, 1951 in Taylor County and departed this life on Monday, January 17, 2022, in Lexington, KY.

 

He united in marriage to Shirley Bault Hughes on June 19, 1970 who survives.

 

He professed his faith in Christ and was of Baptist Faith. He attended Yuma Baptist Church and was a Chairman of Ushers for the church. Gary was drafted and served time during the Vietnam War for the Army. He enjoyed farming and was the owner and operator of Hughes Enterprises of trailers, parts, and sales. He loved all his family and friends dearly.

 

SURVIVORS:

Wife: Shirley Bault Hughes
1 daughter: Connie Newton and husband Michael of Campbellsville

3 grandchildren: Faith Newton, Baylee Newton, and Robert Newton of Campbellsville

3 brothers: Wayne Hughes and wife Gladys of Casey County; Larry Hughes and wife Linda of Knifley; Roger Hughes and wife Donna of Campbellsville

2 sisters: Mildred Druin of Campbellsville and Doris Reynolds of Campbellsville

 

Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by:4 sisters: Margret Hughes, Jewell Hughes, Shirley Hughes, and Barbara Henderson and a brother, Orville Hughes

 

FUNERAL: Saturday, January 22nd, 2022, at 1pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville with Bro. Alan Todd and Bro. Terry Wilder officiating 


VISITATION: Friday, January 21, 2022 from 5pm-8pmET at Auberry Funeral Home 

Pallbearers: Cameron Wright, Cameron Hughes, Dillan Potts, David Mattingly, David Gabbert, Jeff Henderson, Stan Henderson

 

Honorary Pallbearers: Wendell Lewis, Robert Newton, Micah Goodwin, George Hunt, and Gary Bault

 

Burial: Elliot Cemetery

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for expressions of sympathy be taken in form of donations toward St. Jude Hospital Cancer Center for Kids and can be made at the funeral home.

 

Auberry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
