Two Campbellsville men were arrested Monday on burglary charges, Taylor County Sheriff Allen Newton said that Billy R. Parks age 41 and Robert Spurling age 66 were both arrested on Druin Street in Campbellsville after the sheriffs department investigated an incident at the old Parker-Kalon property on Roberts Road, sheriff Newton said the two took property owned by Parker Kalon, other suspected have been obtained and additional charges are coming. Deputy Brent Burkhead made the arrest and was assisted by Jonathon Leigh.

Russell Springs, KY (November 29, 2021) Detectives from Kentucky State Police Post 15 are conducting a murder investigation in Russell County Kentucky. On Friday, November, 26th, 2021 at approximately 12:52 P.M. KSP Post 15 was notified by the Russell Springs Police Department requesting assistance with an investigation of a deceased male found outside his camper with apparent stab wounds, at the Eagles Nest RV Park in Russell Springs, KY. The victim was identified as Glenn Coffey, age 38 of Russell Springs, KY and was pronounced deceased by the Russell County Coroner.

Through investigation detectives were able to discover there had been a dispute between the victim and his spouse Jordan Coffey, age 27 of Russell Springs, KY. A warrant was obtained and Jordan Coffey was located and arrested in Cookeville, TN by the Putnam County Sheriff Department and lodged in the Putnam County Jail. This incident remains under investigation by KSP Det. Nick Davis. Det. Davis was assisted by other KSP personnel, Russell Springs Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.

Hospitalizations: We presently have 77 cases in the hospital. This is 5 more than what we reported in our last report. We have had a total of 1,764 hospitalizations resulting in a 4.22% hospitalization rate (about 1 in 24) among known cases. The state hospitalization rate is 4.19%. The latest data shows that 86.21% of Lake Cumberland’s ICU beds are filled, and 28.77% of ventilator capacity is being utilized.

Total (Cumulative) Cases: The Lake Cumberland District has experienced a total of 41,785 cases since the onset of the outbreak. This means that 20% of our total population has been a confirmed case. However, we do not know how many additional people may have had COVID-19 and were either asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and never tested. Of our total cases, 1.4% are reinfections, and 5.13% contracted the virus after being fully vaccinated (breakthrough cases).

Released (Not contagious) Cases: We released 59 cases since our last report from isolation. Released cases include: Adair: 8; Casey: 3; Clinton: 1; Cumberland: 3; Green: 2; McCreary: 4; Pulaski: 24; Russell: 3; Taylor: 4; and, Wayne: 7. In all, we have released 97.2% of our total cases.

Active (Current) Cases: Since our last report, we added 78 more cases than we had deceased and/or released cases. This leaves us with 450 active cases in our district across all 10 of our district’s 10 counties. On 09/03/2021 we were at our peak number of active cases, 1,714.

Where Did Cases Visit Prior to Isolation: The most common places cases visited prior to isolation are (in descending order): Schools, Family, Businesses, and Medical Facilities.

New Cases: We report that our total case count has increased by 137 since our last report. Our new cases (including suspect cases) are as follows: Adair: 15; Casey: 6; Clinton: 6; Cumberland: 4; Green: 4; McCreary: 19; Pulaski: 55; Russell: 10; Taylor: 3; and, Wayne: 15. Our current new case growth rate is: 1.00183. This means our total case count is projected to double every 378.75 days. The most new cases we ever added in a single day was on 09/07/2021 when we added 730 cases.

One case was deleted from Taylor County’s totals tonight after it was determined to be a resident of another county outside our district.

Again, we encourage our citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine, which is safe and very effective. Of our 27,716 new cases since the vaccine started becoming available, almost 94.87% were unvaccinated.

The Green County Sheriff's Department is investigating the skeletal remains of a person found on Highway 218 in Green County,

Sheriff Robbie Beard told 99.9 the Big Dawg the remains were found by deer hunters late Saturday afternoon and the case is being investigated by Deputy Adam Rainwater. No foul play is suspected at this time. The remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification.

A Taylor County man was arrested Sunday morning after leading police on a high speed chase that started on the Western Parkway, exiting in Etown onto the Lincoln Parkway, traveling through Hodgenville and then to Campbellsville Road-Highway 210 where the chase ended at Falling Timber Road in Taylor County.

Kentucky State Police arrested Johnathon Ruby of Campbellsville. Ruby is charged with fleeing and evading police and is facing multiple counts of wanton endangerment charges that includes speeds up to 125 mph.

The incident Sunday was investigated by KSP with Hodgenville City Police assisting.

Jonathan W. Sharpe of Greensburg was arrested last week by Green County Sheriff Robbie Beard on a Taylor County warrant for Manslaughter. Sharpe was indicted after allegedly suppling drugs to another person that caused death. No other details have been released by the Taylor County Grand Jury. 

The Taylor County Grand Jury indicted Stacy N. Stevens of Campbellsville. Stevens is charged with promoting a minor in a sexual performance. The incident occurred in November of 2020 in Taylor County.

A Campbellsville woman has been indicted on murder charges after being charged with killing her husband in September.

The Taylor County County Grand Jury indicted Katherine Morrison, she charged with shooting John Berry at the Jefferies Apartment Complex, Berry died a short time later at Taylor Regional Hospital. The grand jury indictment was issued last week in during the November session of the Taylor County Grand Jury in Campbellsville.

Campbellsville Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a grease fire at a residence on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6th at 130 Coppock Street that reportedly started in the kitchen. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke with flames coming out the back door. A second alarm was initiated for additional personnel. Firefighters extinguished the fire, searched for occupants, and provided salvage/overhaul. No firefighters or civilian injuries were reported. A pet cat perished in the fire. The cause of the fire was related to a cooking incident.  17 firefighters responded to the call.

Liberty, KY (November 4, 2021) Kentucky State Police Post 15 is investigating a two vehicle fatal collision that occurred on November 2nd, 2021 at approximately 7:24 P.M. eight miles north of Liberty on U.S. 127. Preliminary investigations indicate that 17 year old Jordan Bradley Watson was operating a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle south bound on U.S. 127 when a 2020 Dodge pickup turning off of KY 906, attempted to turn north bound on U.S. 127 crossed in his path, the motorcycle struck the pickup in the left side and the driver was ejected. The Dodge pickup was operated by 28 year old David Bugg of Danville,  Bugg had one passenger, 28 year old, Austin May of Perryville, KY. Watson was wearing a helmet and was transported to Ephraim McDowell hospital was he was later pronounced deceased. Bugg and his passenger were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured.

This collision remains under investigation by Trooper Weston Sullivan. He was assisted at the scene by other KSP personnel, Casey County EMS and the Casey County Sheriff’s Office.

The funeral for Jordan Bradley Watson will be Sunday at 2pm at Casey County High School in Liberty. Memorial donations can be made to McKinney Brown Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

A shooting between a Marion County Deputy Sheriff and another man took place Thursday afternoon between Gravelswitch and Bradfordsville.

99.9 the Big Dawg has learned that Deputy Tristan Hayden was serving papers on Timothy Shewmaker of Marion County when Shewmaker fired a 357 gun at Deputy Hayden, striking his bulletproof vest. Deputy Hayden then shot Shewmaker in the shoulder. Both parties were taken to Springview Hospital for treatment. The incident remains under investiagtion.
