Buffalo Trace Parent Company (Sazerac) to Invest Over a Billion Dollars in Taylor County

Buffalo Trace parent company has announced they are making a billion investment in Taylor County… Big Dawg news has learned that Sazerac the owner of Buffalo Trace distilleries, know for its popular brands Buffalo Trace, Pappy Van Winkle and other brands is expanding into Taylor County and has sought approval for a tax incentive from Kentucky to support the one billion dollar investment for the Campbellsville plant.

 

The new Campbellsville plant is expected to hire 50 people with wages around $33.80 an hour. 

 

The timing on this project comes at a good time, the city of Campbellsville is in the process of running another water line from Green River Lake to meet the supply and demand in the community, the new water line will give the city  Campbellsville over a million more gallons of water.

Campbellsville City Council Reduces Council from 12 to 6 Members After a Vote at Monday Nights Meeting

The Campbellsville City Council met Monday night, council memebers voted to reduce the size of the council from 12 members to 6, the measure passed 7-5, members that voted against the move were Kathy Milby, AJ Johnson, Sharon Hoskins Sanders, Stan McKinney and Faye Howell.
 
Ky League of Cities Executive Director, J D Chaney, presented Senator Max Wise with the "Friends of The Cities" award for the work he has done for Kentucky cities.
 
The council approved the financial arrangements to fund the Emergency Services building.
 
A first reading to raise the pay for council members, after the next election., that will be voted on at the next meeting.

Columbia Man Arrested for Vandalizing Courthouse Clock Tower

 

On October 6th, 2025, Columbia Chief of Police Evan Burton was notified of vandalism involving the Adair County Historic Courthouse Clock Tower that occurred on September 15th, 2025.

 

Following a review of multiple surveillance cameras from businesses located around the Columbia Square, the male suspect responsible for the damages was identified.

 

On October 16th, 2025, Columbia Police Officer Trent Williams and Sergeant Jay Wilson served an active Adair County District Court arrest warrant on Anthony J. Sessions, age 27, of Columbia, Kentucky.

 

Sessions was charged with the following offenses:

 

1. Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree

2. Criminal Trespass - 1st Degree

 

Chief Evan Burton is the investigating officer, with assistance from the Columbia Kentucky Probation and Parole Office.

Liquor Store in Greensburg Damaged by Fire

Green County E-911 received a call at approximately 11:30am reporting smoke coming from the roof of TEG Liquors on Bluebird Ln. Response efforts were assisted by Greensburg-Green County Fire Department, Campbellsville Fire Department, Taylor County Fire Department, Summersville Fire Department, Grab Fire Department, Green County EMS, Green County Emergency Management, Green County Rescue Squad, Greensburg Police Department, Green County E-911, Green County Sheriff’s Office, and Taylor County RECC. Crews remained on scene for approximately two and a half hours, with no injuries sustained.

Three Injured in Friday House Fire in Taylor County

Taylor County Fire department was dispatched to 597 Maple Rd Friday just before 3pm for a residential structure fire with entrapment. While firemen were enroute, units were notified that all people were out of the residence, upon arrival units found a two story wood frame structure heavily involved.

There were three of the occupants that required medical attention,one was airlifted from the scene by AirEvac to U of L in Louisville, two were transported to Taylor Regional Hospital and later transfered to a Louisville hospital.

The cause of the fire has not been determined as of this post. Firefighters were on the scene for three hours.

Motorcycle Accident Investigated Wednesday in Greensburg, Florida Man Airlifted.

It was motorcycle versus truck on highway 61 in Greensburg Wednesday afternoon, 99.9 The Big Dawg has learned a motorcycle operated by Howard Brooks of Florida collided with a tractor trailer near Sturdi Built of Greensburg.
Howard was airlifted to U of L Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the accident was investigated by Greensburg Police.

Columbia-Adair Firemen Called to a House Fire Monday Morning

Columbia Adair County Fire Department was dispatched Monday morning just 7am to 112 West Barbee Street on a report of a structure fire.
 
Upon arrival firefighters found a residential structure with heavy fire conditions present, firefighters made an offensive attack on the fire and quickly contained the fire to the residence. The cause of this fire is unknown at this time.
 
There were 13 firefighters on scene for approximately 1.5 hours.
 
There were two patients transported from the scene by Adair County EMS to TJ Health Columbia with injuries.

Taylor County Woman Died in Sunday Motorcycle Accident in Green County

A fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Green County  claiming the life of a Campbellsville woman, Sheriff Robby Beard told 99.9 The Big Dawg News that Hazel Raikes age 26 of Campbellsville was riding passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Derick  Coyle of Columbia, Coyle lost control of the bike on Ebenezer road, 26 year old Hazel Raikes was ejected from the bike and taken to Jane Todd Crawford hospital and pronounced dead, Coyle was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital, Green County Sheriff Robby Beard investigated the fatal motorcycle accident.

Fire Alarm Sounded in Taylor County

Taylor County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire late Wednesday at 10174 Saloma Road in Campbellsville,  upon arrival firefighters found a single story wood frame residence fully involved.
No one was at the residence at the time of the fire, no injuries were reported. Twenty firefighters with three apparatus responded and were on scene for three hours. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Woman Stabbed & Another Woman Arrested by Campbellsville Police

Campbellsville Police investigated the stabbing Wednesday afternoon after getting a call from a residence on Smith ridge road, upon arrival officers found Erica Meredith age 44 of Campbellsville with mulitiple stabb wounds, Meredith was taken to Taylor Regional Hospital. Campbellsville Police have charged Kayla Thompson age 35 of Campbellsville with felony assualt charges. 
detective Steven Dobson is the investigating officer for the Campbellsville Police Department.
