Taylor County Indictments 5/22

 

A Taylor County Grand Jury has returned indictments against twenty-one individuals. An indictment is a legal accusation and does not determine guilt or innocence.

 

Campbellsville City Council Gets No Motion on Occupational Tax Increase

Campbellsville City Council met last night, lots of discussion on the Occupational Tax increase, no action was taken on it, so it will not increase at this time.
 
*The water bill and sewer bill will increase by 3%.
 
The Campbellsville City Budget for 2025-26, and it will be voted on next month.

2-Vehicle Columbia Accident Sends Three People to the Hospital

 

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, a 2-vehicle collision occurred on Greensburg Road near the Veterans Memorial Bypass in Columbia, KY. 

 

David Wolford of Magnolia, KY was operating a 2017 Dodge Caravan and was traveling from Greensburg Road onto the Bypass when he collided with a 2015 Ford Edge, driven by Vanessa Cooper of Columbia, KY. 

 

Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to TJ Health Columbia for treatment. Ester Wolford, a passenger in the Dodge Caravan, was initially taken to TJ Health Columbia and later flown to a Lexington, KY hospital for further medical care due to the severity of her injuries.

 

Columbia Police Department Lieutenant Justin Cross is leading the investigation. He was assisted on the scene by Adair County Sheriff Deputy Gary Roy, Kentucky State Police Trooper Billy Begley, Adair County Fire Department and Adair County EMS.

 

Theft of Guns, Jewelry & Misc Items-REWARD OFFERED

The Taylor County Sheriffs Department is investigating a residential burglary in the Spurlington area, a large collection of guns and jewelry was taken, a reward is offered, anyone with information is urged to call Taylor County Sheriff Dickie Benningfield at 270-465-8000. 

Two Vehicle Crash on 210 & North By-Pass Injures One Person

Taylor County Sheriffs Department investigated a two vehicle crash at 9:36am Monday morning at Highway 210 and North By-Pass, sheriff Dickie Benningfield told 99.9 the Big Dawg News that Ronnie Young age 78 of Campbellsville was operating a Nissan Frontier and turned into the path of a Ford F150 driven by Juan Chavez of Mexico, Chavez was not injured, Young was takeen to Taylor Regional and later to Uof L Hospital.  

The mishap was investigated by Josh Patrick with the TC Sheriffs Department. 

Second Child Injured in Easter Morning DUI Crash in Russell County has Died

 

The Easter morning crash in the Sano community of Russell County has now claimed the lives of two children as 12-year-old David King Jr. died at the UK Hospital in Lexington this morning. 14-year-old Skyler Huckaby died at RC Hospital shortly after the accident that occurred at 1:15 AM on Sunday, April 20th, 2025 on the Sano Mount Olive Road in Russell County. 
 

According to KSP, David King, 31, of Columbia, KY was traveling east on Sano Mount Olive Road in a 2009 Chevrolet HHR when he exited the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. David King was arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide Under the Influence of Alcohol, DUI 3rd Offense, Assault 1st Degree (2 counts), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (3 counts), Failure to Wear Seat Belts, and Reckless Driving. He was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.


A third juvenile (Skyler Huckaby's brother) was involved in the crash was treated for non life threatening injuries.
