At approximately 1:00 PM Central Time on Thursday, September 3, 2026, Russell County Search & Rescue responded to a call involving a worker who had fallen nearly 20 feet while operating on a barge, performing repair work at Wolf Creek Dam. Due to the location and severity of the fall, a technical rescue was required to safely remove the patient from the barge.

Rescuers utilized the barge’s multi-ton crane to lift both the patient and a rescuer from the barge up to the roadway, where an awaiting ambulance transferred care. The patient was then flown by helicopter to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY for further treatment.

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for consumers of Green-Taylor Water District for the following location: Beginning at 3891 Hodgenville Road (Marr’s Service Station) to the intersection of Hodgenville Road and Gabe Road in Summersville, including Hall Cemetery Road, Hines Lane, Allenhouse Road, Shannon Heights, Kountry Korner and Gumm Cemetery Road in Green County.

The advisory has been issued due to main line water repairs. Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply, therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for 3 minutes before using.

The advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected, and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.
