Janell Helm Grant, 87, Glensfork, KY

 

Janell Helm Grant, 87, of Glensfork, KY passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at her residence. She was born on August 30, 1939 in the Cundiff Community of Adair County to the late Oscar and Carrie Hadley Helm.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Grant.

 

Mrs. Grant lived a life centered on home, faith, and the people she loved. She was a homemaker and also spent time babysitting, caring for others in ways that reflected her generous and nurturing spirit. She found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. Vegetable gardening and canning were among her favorite pastimes, and she also loved singing in church. More than anything, she treasured spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart.

 

Mrs. Grant was a member of Melson Ridge Community Separate Baptist Church, a fellowship that was an important part of her life and faith.

 

SURVIVORS:

6 children: Joan Knopp (Ronnie), Michael Ray Grant, Gina McAfee, Mark Lee Grant (Jill), Robin Grant Corbin (Tommy) and Kimberly Grant (Casey)

11 grandchildren: Matthew Grant, Mandy Bohanan, Mackenzie Grant, Treyton Grant, Sarah Grant, Channing Wall, Shelby Grant, Austin Grant, Rachel Flood, Ian Grant and Evan Franklin 

Several great-grandchildren

3 siblings: Shirley Lawless, Billy Helm (Daisy) and Stevie Helm (Virginia)

Several other friends & relatives

 

Funeral Service: Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 1:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY with Bro. Mike Helm officiating

 

Burial: Grant Cemetery

 

Visitation: Wednesday, September 18, 2026 from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT and Thursday until time for the service

 

Pallbearers: Matthew Grant, Ian Grant, MacKenzie Grant, Austin Grant, Treyton Grant and Evan Franklin

 

She will be remembered with love for her kindness, her devotion to family, and the quiet, steady way she cared for those around her. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
