Barbara Faye Wilson, 73, of Russell Springs, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. She was born August 5, 1944 in Russell County to the late Carlos & Virginia Smith Mann. Barbara was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Wilson; 2 brothers, Michael Mann & Ronnie Mann.

Dorothy Kerns, 89, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at T.J. Health/Columbia Emergency Room.

She was born August 23, 1928, in Adair County, to the late James Hobert and Pearl Bryan Coffey Kerns.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Doug Kerns and Janice Casey and four grandchildren.  She was of the Baptist faith and a former factory worker.

 

Survivors include:

One daughter – Debbie and husband Andy Withers of Columbia

Two sons – Terry and wife Wanda Kerns of Campbellsville, Steve Kerns and special friend, Pam Parker of Knifley

Two brothers – Dallas Kerns of Bardstown, Joe Kerns of Columbia

Lyla Geneva Pyles, 89, of Campbellsville, KY formerly of Adair County passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:30 PM at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.
 
She was born on October 3, 1928 in Ella, KY, the daughter of the late J.B. & Retta Bryant Pyles.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and four sisters.
 
She is survived by one brother: Rollin Pyles of Campbellsville, KY.
Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives & friends survive.
 
Lyla was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church and the manager of apartment buildings in Louisville, KY for many years.

GARLAND HAYES, 86, of  Ebenezer Road, Greensburg, KY passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 4:00 PM at his home after several months’ illness.  He was born in the Ebenezer Community of Green Co. on March 18, 1931, the son of the late:  Robert T. and Lena Wilkerson Hayes He was preceded in death by one brother: Floyd Sherman Hayes and by his wife Allene Sharpe Hayes on August 10, 2004.
 
Survived by one son: Terry Hayes and wife Kim, Campbellsville, KY
One granddaughter: Leah Hayes, Greensburg, KY
Two step grandsons:  Matthew Schmuck of Campbellsville, KY and
Chance Cox of Lexington, KY
Also survived by other relatives and a host of friends.
 
Mr. Hayes made a childhood profession of faith in Christ and attended the Light House Baptist Church, a US Army Korean War veteran, and a lifelong farmer and a care giver for his wife for many years.

Edith Mae Allen Wilkinson, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at her home in Danville. She was 79.
Born on June 10, 1938, in Adair Co. KY, she was a daughter of the late Permelia Allen Coulter. Edith was a cook at Danville Country Club for over forty years. She also worked as a cook at Bate Middle School and Pioneer Playhouse; as well as working at Palm Beach. She was a member of Hopeful Gospel Church. She loved her family, crocheting, and sewing. Edith was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Bate School.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ruby (and Doug) Walker and Cora “Sissi” Hamilton, both of Danville; two sons, Emanuel Gray and Ambers Wilkinson, Jr., both of Danville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Other survivors include eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Margaret Whitehead of Harrodsburg, Betty Jean Coulter of Danville, and Sue Coulter of Danville.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ambers Wilkinson, Sr., whom she wed on October 15, 1960; a sister; and six brothers, Robert L. Coulter, George Edward Coulter, Willie Ray Coulter and Billy Joe Coulter. 
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville, KY., with Rev. Casey M. Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in Hilldale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville.

Born March 4, 1945, in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Wanda Whitt Ellsworth. Vivian was a retired Nurse’s Aid and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Liberty. She enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Center and going to auctions, yard sales, and flea markets.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Ann Wright; son, Chester Hochstrasser; brother, Eddie Ellsworth; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ray Hochstrasser; daughter, Wanda Hochstrasser; and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00PM Thursday, October 19, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be held privately in the Hiter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6PM on Thursday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Deward Dean Davis, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the Liberty Care Center. He was 84.
Born May 8, 1933, in Casey Co., KY, he was a son of the late Coy Henson Davis and Annie Mae Overstreet Davis. Mr. Davis was a retired truck driver, retired factory worker, and a member of the New Testament Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing Checkers. 


Survivors include his son, Ronnie (and Sally) Davis of Liberty; daughters, Terri (and Bailey) Parsons of Thomasville, NC, Sherrie (and Danny) McNeely of Austin, IN, and Angela (and Mark) Nunn of Trinity, NC; brother, Larry Davis of Maysville, KY; sisters, Mildred Cochran of Liberty, Fay Woodrum of Cincinnati, OH, Carol Vaughn of Liberty, and Teresa Combs of Cincinnati, OH; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Jane Bolt Davis, who passed away on January 28, 2016; sister, Etwell Davis; and brothers, Calvert and Vernon Davis. 


There will be a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the New Testament Baptist Church with Rev. George Pierce officiating. Visitation will be held after 1:00 PM at the Church on Saturday. Burial will be held privately at the Cold Springs Cemetery.

Edwin Murphy of Liberty, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at his home. He was 94.
Born in the Pricetown Community of Casey County on February 17, 1923, he was a son of the late G.W. “Doc” and Lucy Allen Murphy. Ed was a former mechanic and employee of the Casey County Road Department. He was a member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church. Ed was a WWII Army Veteran and was a member of many military auxiliaries in Casey County that include the VFW and the DAV. Above all, Ed will be most remembered for his dedicated service to the Casey County Funeral Squad; where he served hundreds of families for over 60 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Boyd) Brown of Liberty and Janie (Paul) Rudolph of Louisville; four grandchildren, Ken, Lydia, John and Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Corey, Isaac, Mattie, Jack and Jett; two great-great-grandchildren, Arthur and Kai; and one sister, Helena McDonald of Liberty.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fern Elliot Murphy, who passed away on November 3, 2015; six brothers, Sherman, Fred, Kenneth, James, Claud, and Sherwood Murphy; and three sisters, Matie Decker, Irene Lay and Myrtle Harmon.
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Honor Guard.

Noah S. Dile, 84, of Columbus, IN, died at 5:38 p.m. October 15, 2017, at Homeview Health in Franklin, IN.
 
Noah was born March 5, 1933, in Metcalfe County, KY, the son of Major R. and Leada Burton Dile. He married Mary R. Curtsinger in Jamestown, KY, November 19, 1949 and they were married for 67 years.
 
He spent most of his life in Bartholomew County, IN, having moved to Columbus, IN when he was 12 years old. He was a retired farmer and also retired from the city of Columbus. Noah and Mary enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, and he enjoyed camping, traveling and fishing. 
 
Survivors include his wife, Mary; son, Samuel R. (Emma Hemingway) Dile of St. Cloud, Florida / Jamestown, KY; siblings, Betty Walker of Columbus, Pearlie Whited of Columbus, Ray (Mary Ann) Dile of North Vernon, Elizabeth (Jim) Hammon of Scipio, Sue (Horace Jr.) Ballard of Columbus and Naomi (David) Pyle of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Mindy Dile Baker, Benjamin S. Lewis and Brent Lewis; great-grandchildren, Sharon V. Lewis, Haley Boatright, Maya Baker, Aliza Baker, Romanza Lewis, Neveah Lewis, Dante Lewis and Colin Richey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Noah Randall Dile; a daughter, Sharon Diana Dile-Lewis; and sisters, Geneva, Anna Katherine and Linda Marie Dile.  
 
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating.

Mr. Eugene Ray Gray, age 77, of Campbellsville, KY died on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Lexington at the UK Medical Center. Eugene was born February 9, 1940 to the late Joe and Helen (Watson) Gray. He professed faith in Christ and attended Elkhorn Baptist Church. Eugene worked for a furniture company and later opened South Campbellsville Wood Shop, where he made reproduction cherry furniture and enjoyed fishing and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren.
 
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Gray and Joe Gray, Jr.
