Maxine Walkup Walker, 99, Columbia, KY

Maxine Walkup Walker, 99, of Columbia, KY departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2026. She was born in Jamestown, KY on December 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Samuel Lawrence Walkup and Josephine Dunbar Walkup.

 

She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1944 and Lindsey Wilson Jr. College in 1946. After teaching school for 3 years, she married William L. “Bill” Walker, who had just returned from serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and she met two weeks for Lindsey Wilson graduation on May 10, 1948. Bill died March 13, 1992. Together they owned and operated Meadow Hill Inn and Walker Florist. She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church for over 75 years.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Walkup and James Lawrence Walkup.

1 son & daughter-in-law: Larry & Cindy Walker of Columbia

1 daughter & son-in-law: Debbie & Ben Cosentino of East Hanover, New Jersey

2 sisters: Marie Gosser of Somerset and Jean Combs of Louisville

4 grandchildren: Ben Cosentino (Sandy), Jessica Cosentino, Natalie Goodin (Neil) and Wes Walker (Baylee)

7 great-grandchildren: Michael and Anthony Cosentino, Alley, Barrett and Walker Goodin, and Maeve and Grace Walker

 

Funeral Service: Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Neil Janes officiating

 

Burial: Columbia Cemetery

 

Visitation: After 9:00 A.M. Thursday

 

In lieu of flowers, Maxine requested that donations be made to Columbia United Methodist Church, which can be left at the funeral home

Stephen L. Davis, 78, Russell Springs, KY

Stephen L. Davis, 78, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at his residence. He was born on June 16, 1948 in Jamestown, KY, a son of the late Clema Thomas Davis and Alvin Davis.
 
He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force, a retired City of Jamestown employee, and a member of the Church at the Springs. Stephen was an avid card player, loved his family and weekend get-togethers, was a huge John Wayne fan, loved watching western movies and the Andy Griffith Show. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Stewart Davis; a stepson, John Lawrence; and Shirley Ann Johnson (mother to Heather and Troy).

1 daughter: Heather Davis of Richmond, KY
1 stepdaughter: Veronica Bruce (Garry) of Louisville, KY

Janet Kay Clark, 75, Jamestown, KY

Janet Kay Clark, 75, of Jamestown, KY passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Russell County Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1951 in Taylor County, KY, the daughter of the late William Russell Thompson and Cordie Lee Watson Thompson.
 
Throughout her life, Janet dedicated herself to both her career and her community. In her early years, while living in Washington, D.C. with her husband, David, she worked for the FBI and then the IRS. After relocating back to Kentucky, Janet became a longtime employee of the Bank of Jamestown, where she served for many years and retired as Vice President.
 
Janet was deeply committed to serving Russell County. She held numerous leadership roles throughout the community, including serving as a past member of the Lake Cumberland Area Development Board. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Russell County Public Library Board and served as Treasurer for the Russell County Extension Office.
 
Above all, Janet loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church. Janet was known as a true prayer warrior, she faithfully lifted others up in prayer and found joy in studying God’s Word and reading other books she loved.
 
Nothing brought Janet greater happiness than her family. She cherished every moment spent with them and especially treasured being “Nana” to her three grandchildren. She loved watching them grow, pursue their dreams, and become the people God created them to be.

Her beloved husband of 54 years: David Clark of Jamestown
1 daughter & son-in-law: Davene & Jeric DeVore of Russell Springs
3 grandchildren: Marlei DeVore, Maribelle Harper DeVore, and Milo Ren DeVore
6 sisters: Regina Key (Leo Abner) of Columbia, Zerelda Ervin of Glasgow, Ramona (Kenneth) Dial of Columbia, Donna Mattingly of Springfield, Glenda (Rod) Phillips of Campbellsville, and Pam (Todd) Quinn of Campbellsville
3 brothers: Gary (Kena) Long of Lebanon, Bradley Thompson of Campbellsville, and Randy (Terissa) Thompson of Campbellsville
 
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her stepmother, Kathleen Thompson, and her brother-in-law, Bo Mattingly.
 
Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Bernard Funeral Home, with her son-in-law, Bro. Jeric DeVore, officiating
 
Burial: Jamestown Cemetery
 
Visitation: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 7:30 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home
 
Pallbearers: David Deering, Curtis Ervin, Josh Ervin, Dylan Quinn, Eric Quinn, and Jarrett Mattingly

Janet will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, her gentle spirit, and the love she poured into her family, her church, and her community. Her legacy of kindness, prayer, and faithful service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Dawn Marie Clifton, 58, of Columbia, KY passed away Friday, July 31, 2026 at Barren County Health and Rehabilitation in Glasgow.  She was born August 10, 1967, a daughter of the late John Herbert and Catherine Louise Groves Moore.

Her beloved husband: James Clifton
2 sons: Moses Sanchez and Joseph Sanchez

Cremation rites will be honored according to Dawn’s wishes; no service will be held at this time.

David Bunch, 77, Russell County, KY

David Bunch, 77, of Russell County, KY passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1948 in Bryan, KY, a son of the late Lillie Mae York Bunch and Joe Milton Bunch.
 
David served with the Kentucky State Police from 1974 to 1990, being one of the first K-9 handlers with his dog Rabael. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in Vietnam. David was a former Commonwealth Detective and a striper guide on Lake Cumberland. He was affiliated with Fairview Baptist Church.

1 daughter: Kristal Bunch Mullins (Bill) of Russell Springs, KY
1 son: Darron Bunch (Tammy) of Columbia, KY
1 sister: Shirley Rebennack (Bobby) of Edinburg, IN
2 brothers: Michael Bunch (Sandy) of Jamestown, KY and Doug Bunch (Carrie) of Russell Springs, KY
3 grandchildren: Halee Bunch, Isabelle and Gannon Mullins
 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Arcilla Bunch in 2011 and three siblings: Marshall Bunch, Patty Roy, and JoAnn Roy. 
 
Funeral Service: Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 2:00pmCT at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY with Bro. Dwan Hadley and Bro. Bill Mullins officiating

Interment: Free Union Cemetery

Michael D. Glover, 74, Jamestown, KY

Michael D. Glover, 74, of Jamestown, KY passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026 at his home. He was born in Somerset, KY on August 30, 1951, a son of the late Elizabeth and Riley Glover.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Michael worked for Marathon Oil as an operations technician.

His wife: Pamela (Hardwick) Glover of Jamestown, KY

2 granddaughters: Allie Paige and Ashlyn Faith Glover

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Michael Glover.

Cremation rites were honored.

Inurnment: Tuesday August 4, 2026 at 2:30pmET at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Squad
