On Friday, October 23, 2026, Adair County Deputy Ricky Shirley was attempting to locate Charles Barker. Barker was being sought in connection with a Felony Assault that had taken place on Thursday, October 22nd in Adair County.
 

Deputy Shirley located Barker operating a vehicle on Jones Chapel Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Barker failed to stop, initiating a brief vehicle pursuit. Barker fled to his residence where he continued to resist arrest and disobey commands.

Barker was later taken into custody on the following charges: 

- ASSAULT 2nd DEGREE (DOMESTIC VIOLENCE)

-FLEEING OR EVADING MOTOR VEHICLE - 1ST

- OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL (AGGRAVATING CIRCUMSTANCES)

- POSSESSION OF OPEN ALCOHOL CONTAINER IN VEHICLE  

- RECKLESS DRIVING

- DISORDERLY CONDUCT - 2nd DEGREE 

- RESISTING ARREST &

- TERRORISTIC THREATENING - 3rd DEGREE
