Frederick Lee "Fred" Dorman, 81, of Columbia, KY passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, April 5, 2026. He was born on March 15, 1945 in Clarksville, Indiana to the late Lee and Olive Morris Dorman.
Fred led a life marked by dedication, service, and the warmth of close family ties. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Fred honorably served aboard the USS Eugene A. Greene DD-711 from 1962 to 1966. His commitment to his country was a defining chapter in his life, and it exemplified his steadfast character and sense of duty.
Following his military service, Fred devoted his career to the community as a State Correction Officer, where he carried out his responsibilities with integrity and respect for others. Outside of his professional life, he was a man of varied interests and passions. He found joy in restoring antique furniture, a hobby that spoke to his patience and craftsmanship. Evenings were often spent playing cards or enjoying old western films, pastimes that brought him comfort and a sense of nostalgia.

1 granddaughter: Kylie Dorman
3 sisters-in-law: Jan Dorman, Brenda Dorman Cobb, and Fran Dorman
His cherished dogs: Lacy, Brandy, and the late Bear, who were steadfast companions throughout his life
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers: Darrell and Glenn Dorman, and his beloved grandson, Cody Layne Dorman. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Burial: Columbia Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 6097
Visitation: Wednesday after 10:00am at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home
Pallbearers: Justin Dorman, Scott Dorman, Jonathan Dorman, Barry Bardin, Doug Vanarsdale, and Jason Smith
