Ruth Ann Smith, 78, of Columbia, KY died Monday, September 1, 2025 at her home. She was born November 25, 1946 in Adair County to the late Bill and Bessie Curry Hughes.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the Gospel Choir and worked at Osh Kosh B’Gosh for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Smith; one son, Jarrid DeCarlo “Bam” Smith; four brothers: Charles Hughes, Eugene “Dukie” Hughes, Chester Hughes, and Danny Hughes; and two sisters: Geraldine Miller and Brenda Hughes.

SURVIVORS:

3 sons: Shayne Smith of Bardstown, Aundrae (Faye) Smith of Columbia, and Darrin “Speedy” Smith of Columbia

1 sister: Joyce Bradshaw of Columbia

2 brothers: Kenny Hughes and Glen “Dagwood” Hughes both of Columbia

6 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren
