Richard Owen Butler, 83, of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Columbia, KY on July 2, 1942 to the late Charles Owen and Martha Lucille Bault Butler.

Mr. Butler was a retired police officer for the Columbia Police Department and served the Adair County Sheriff’s Department during his career. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.

1 granddaughter: Shelby Grant (Ashley Gregory) of Columbia, KY

Nephew: Bobby Bradshaw of Columbia, KY

Special Friend: Tommy Corbin of Columbia, KY

His fur baby son: “Trooper”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Marcia Carole Bradshaw and her husband Robert.

Funeral Service: Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Russ Wheat officiating

Burial: Cox Cemetery

Visitation: Friday from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT and Saturday morning until time for the service
