Betty Gail Downey, 78, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Russell County Hospital. She was born in Louisville, KY on February 25, 1945, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Cora Elsie Stephens Downey. 
 

Betty was a member of the West 80 Church of God and a former long-time employee of Fruit of the Loom in Jamestown. She gave most of her adult life to raising kids. Betty loved being with her children and grandchildren and was always up for family get-togethers. She played the piano (as well as guitar and bass). She loved music of all kinds and enjoyed singing.

6 sisters: Jenny Fillippinie, Velma Hill, Helen Napier, Della Ray Burns, Barbara Russell, and Marsha Bell

11 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Higginbotham; her brother, Lincoln Holder; her sisters, Leecie Holder and Fay Hoover; and her granddaughter, Mia Darnell.
