Oaklie Douglas, 82, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Lexington VA Health Care Center. He was born on December 13, 1940 in Yosemite, KY, a son of the late Roy and Effie Richardson Douglas.

Oaklie was a proud US Army veteran and attended The Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in Burkesville. He was a golf course groundskeeper and a retired electrician and plumber. Oaklie loved working puzzles and woodworking.

1 son: Johnnie Douglas of Liberty

1 stepson: Junior (Virginia) Pennington of Columbia

2 brothers: Bobby Douglas and Russell Douglas, both of Liberty

1 sister: Mary Lou Pittman of Liberty

A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, & nephews

In addition to his parents, Oaklie was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Chumbley Douglas, who passed away on April 10, 2016; his brother, Floyd (Hazel) Douglas; and his brother-in-law, Hack Pittman. 

Funeral Service: Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 12:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Troy McWhorter officiating

Burial: Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard

Visitation: Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 5:00pm-8:00pmCT and Thursday after 7:30amCT at Bernard Funeral Home

Pallbearers: Junior Pennington, Cody McGowan, Gavin Partin, Vince Partin, Daniel Troxell, and Bruce Johnson
