Ruel Oakes, 86, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 at Russell County Hospital. He was born on October 16, 1936 in Russell Springs, KY, the son of the late Lorene Crockett Oakes and Junie Oakes.
Ruel was a long time employee of Alligator #2 (KOA). He loved doing work with his tractors and meeting and talking to people.
Ruel was married to his wife, Margaret Bray Oakes on August 24, 1963.

3 grandsons: Kelby (Savanah) Barnett, Zac Oakes (Brenna Posey), and Christian Helm
1 granddaughter: Brooke (Kyle) Kerney
5 great-grandchildren: Alex and Archer Oakes, Kai and Kalli Barnett, and Saylor Kerney

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Crabtree; five brothers: Jim, Lilburn, Lewell, Joe and Marshall Oakes; and one grandson, Dustin Trevor Oakes.
