DAVID CAMERON HOPPER, 93, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY

 

David Cameron Hopper, 93, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Russell Springs on August 17, 1928, a son of the late Lucy (Hammond) and Estill Hopper.

David was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 941 of Russell Springs. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 aboard the USS Aggerholm during the Korean Conflict. He retired from East KY Power in Winchester, KY where he worked as an electrical engineer.

1 daughter: Pamela Smith Adams (John) of Lexington, KY
1 son: Gene Vance Smith (Connie) of Russell Springs, KY
1 sister: Betty Lunsford of Russell Springs, KY
1 brother: Marion Hopper (Kathy) of Apopka, FL
6 grandchildren: Dr. Allison S. Cherry (Dr. Brent), Heather Dando (John), Trevor Smith, Megan Redmon (Jason), Jonathan E. Adams, and Rebecca Carmichael (Matthew)
13 great-grandchildren
Many special nieces & nephews whom he loved very much
 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye Smith Hopper; 3 brothers: Jarvis Hopper, Lewis Hopper, and Edwin Hopper; 3 sisters: Doris Wade, Patricia Neathery Hughes, and Martha Hopper; and an infant sibling.

Funeral Service: Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 3:30pmCT at Fairview Baptist Church in Russell Springs, KY with Rev. John Wilson and Bro. Bill Mullins officiating

Public Visitation: 1:30pm-3:30pmCT on Sunday at Fairview Baptist Church

Burial: Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard and Masonic Rites by Masonic Lodge #941

Pallbearers: Evan Cherry, Beau Cherry, Dr. Brent Cherry, Will Dando, John Dando, Jonathan Adams, Matthew Carmichael, and Jason Redmon

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairview Cemetery Fund.
