Marion “Derby” Smith, 88, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born April 14, 1933 in Adair County to the late Stanley and Myrtie Willis Smith. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Wesley Smith on November 29, 2007; one brother, Mason Smith; and two sisters: Mary Frances “Shorty” Brockman and Jeanette Gross. 

Derby was a member and Deacon of Shiloh Christian Church, a life-long farmer, member of the Adair County Cattlemen’s Association, served on the FSA Board for many years and served as Magistrate on the Adair Fiscal Court.

2 brothers: Marvin “Buck” Smith of Columbia, KY and Maurice “Smitty” Smith of Tennessee

3 sisters: Sara Tupman of Brandenburg, KY, Margie Dean Burton and Pat Bennett both of Louisville, KY

2 grandchildren: Cody Dean Smith and Kyle David Smith

2 great-grandchildren: Robby Kyle Smith and Kyler Adrian Smith

Burial: Haven Hill Cemetery
