GARLAND HAYES, 86, GREENSBURG

 
GARLAND HAYES, 86, of  Ebenezer Road, Greensburg, KY passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 4:00 PM at his home after several months’ illness.  He was born in the Ebenezer Community of Green Co. on March 18, 1931, the son of the late:  Robert T. and Lena Wilkerson Hayes He was preceded in death by one brother: Floyd Sherman Hayes and by his wife Allene Sharpe Hayes on August 10, 2004.
 
Survived by one son: Terry Hayes and wife Kim, Campbellsville, KY
One granddaughter: Leah Hayes, Greensburg, KY
Two step grandsons:  Matthew Schmuck of Campbellsville, KY and
Chance Cox of Lexington, KY
Also survived by other relatives and a host of friends.
 
Mr. Hayes made a childhood profession of faith in Christ and attended the Light House Baptist Church, a US Army Korean War veteran, and a lifelong farmer and a care giver for his wife for many years.
 
Funeral service: Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM CST at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY .
 
Clergy officiating: Bro. Jim Collison and Bro. Don Gowin.
 
Burial in the Griffin Cemetery on Hwy 565 with full military honors presented by the Marion County Honor Guard.
 
The family request visiting after 4:00 PM CST on Friday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Gideon Bibles.
 
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
