James Robert “Bob” Davis, 85, of Campbellsville, KY formerly of Greensburg, son of the late Edgar Brown Davis and Mattie Lee Berry Davis, was born on June 9, 1941 in the Pierce community of Green County, KY and departed this life on Friday, October 9, 2026 at his home in Campbellsville.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He later began a career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff for Green County. He subsequently joined the Kentucky State Police, advanced through the ranks, and retired as a detective. For several years he served as the director of Trooper Island at Dale Hollow Lake, a Kentucky State Police summer camp for underprivileged children.
Throughout his life, he had a passion for the outdoors, and bicycling. He rode his bicycle across the United States several times and hiked portions of the Appalachian Trail. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. For those who knew him, his ideal adventure was camping in frontier-style tent on the bank of a slow-moving river, setting trotlines, and twig lines while cooking over a smoldering campfire. He will be remembered for his years of service, his enjoyment of the outdoors, and the many experiences he shared with family and friends.
