Bobby Louis Johnson, 91, of Campbellsville, KY, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and faithful servant of God, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, August 14, 2026 at his home. He was born on February 1, 1935 in Green County, KY to the late Rev. George T. Johnson and Captola Caldwell Johnson.
From an early age, Bobby learned the importance of faith, family, hard work, and treating others with kindness. Those values remained at the heart of the man he became.
Bobby accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully served the Lord throughout his life. He was a devoted member of the Church of the Living God in Campbellsville, Kentucky, where he served as a Deacon and faithfully answered the call to serve whenever he was needed. His faith was not simply something he spoke about—it was something he lived.
Bobby was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He worked as an auto mechanic at Buick Garage before becoming a forklift mechanic at Fruit of the Loom. Even after the closing of Fruit of the Loom, Bobby continued working and using the skills he had developed over the years. His strong work ethic and determination were an inspiration to those around him.
In 1955, Bobby married the love of his life, Fannie Marie Phillips. For 71 years, they walked through life together—building a family, sharing memories, facing challenges, and creating a love story that will continue to inspire generations. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment, friendship, faith, and enduring love.
Together, they were blessed with four children: James, Gary, Cherita, and Rhonda. Bobby treasured his family beyond words. He was the kind of father whose love could be felt in the things he did, the sacrifices he made, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather—he was a source of wisdom, strength, laughter, and unconditional love.
Bobby’s life was not measured by material things, but by the lives he touched. He was a man who showed up, lent a helping hand, gave honest advice, and made people feel like family. His quiet strength, hardworking spirit, sense of humor, and love for others will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. George T. Johnson and Captola Caldwell Johnson; his great-granddaughter, Scottlynn Sowell; his stepmother, Mary Elizabeth Johnson; seven brothers: Paul, Oliver, George Henry, Leon, Harold, Jerry, and Ernest Ray Johnson; one sister, Martha Drye; three stepsisters: Theresa Coulter, Debra Barnett, and Linda Joyce Barnett; along with other loved ones who welcomed him home.
