Doris Ann Brooks, 76, of Campbellsville, KY passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by love, just four days before her 77th birthday. She was born on May 18, 1949, the daughter of the late Earl Edward Stephens and Lue Vena Creekmore Stephens.
Doris was happily married to Samuel David Brooks and was the beloved mother of 1 son Darrell Wayne Jones of Arkansas. She was the second of eight children and shared a close bond with her siblings throughout her life.
She is survived by her siblings: Danny and Donna Stephens of Indianapolis, Indiana; Dora Bryant of Louisville, Kentucky; Doyle and Sharon Stephens; Virginia “Jeannie” and Jeff Dykes of Somerset, Kentucky; Johnny and Trish Stephens of Somerset, Kentucky; and Debbie and Terry Moss of Whitley City, Kentucky. and lots and lots of nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews and then the great great great she loved them all so dearly.
But Doris also leaves behind her most precious grandson, Zachary Mackie, and her precious great-granddaughter, Sunley MaeEllen Mackie, who was truly the apple of her eye and brought endless joy to her heart.
Waiting to welcome her in Heaven are her maternal grandparents, Homer Levi and Ethel Creekmore; her paternal grandparents, Johnny and Mattie Stephens; her brother, Eddie Stephens; and her nephew, whom we are all sure SUPER overjoyed Jeffrey Dwayne Turner II.
Doris was known for her deep love for animals. There was never a time in her life that she did not have a beloved cat or dog by her side. She had a spunky spirit, a feisty personality, and a heart that loved deeply. She will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
Doris’s wish was to spend her final days peacefully at home, and that wish was lovingly honored by her husband, Samuel Brooks, her sister Debbie Moss, and her niece Christy Cox, who cared for her with compassion and devotion during her final journey.
In honoring Doris’s wishes, she will be cremated.
Though her family’s hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace and forever free from pain. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
