J.B. Root, 83, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Justus Burron Root and Ora Lee Barber Root, was born on Tuesday, December 1, 1942 in Olive Hill, KY and departed this life on Friday, April 3, 2026 at his home.
He was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church in Campbellsville, where he faithfully served as a member of the choir. His life was deeply rooted in music and ministry, having dedicated over 60 years as a gospel singer, sharing his faith through song with numerous groups and touching countless lives along the way.
He honorably served our country in the United States Air Force for over 5 years, receiving an honorable discharge. He was also retired from General Electric in Louisville, after 30 years of dedicated service.

His wife of 21 years: Reva Root of Campbellsville
2 sons & a daughter-in-law: Josh Root & Maggie of Russell Springs, and Stuart Schultz
1 daughter & son-in-law: Bridget Goldsmith & James of Elizabethtown
5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren
A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & many friends
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Burial: Campbellsville Memorial Gardens
Visitation: After 9:00amCT (10:00amET) Friday at the church
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the First Methodist Church of Campbellsville which can be made at the funeral home or at the church.
