Maxine Lobb Judd, 96, of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Leslie Harry “L.H.” Lobb and Bertha Lou McKinney Lobb, was born on July 23, 1929 in the Lobb Bend Community of Green County and departed this life on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Green River Trails Nursing Home.
Maxine served for approximately 10 years with the Department of the Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, under the former Directorate of Information and Operations, Ordinance Detachment (DIO-Ordnance), and U.S. Army MEDDAC, Medical Research Section at the Ireland Army Community Hospital. After leaving the Department of the Army, she was a housewife and seamstress until beginning her career as a teacher in Green County in 1969.
“Ms. Maxine” (as she was affectionately known by her students and co-workers), was a retired teacher from Green County Schools after 51 years. Ms. Maxine received the Head Start Employee of the Year for the 1988-89 school year, and in 1990-91 school year, became the Kentucky Head Start Teacher of the Year School Year, and Region IV Teacher of the Year (covering 8 southeastern states), receiving her award at Tunica, Mississippi. She was also commissioned a Kentucky Colonel on January 2, 2014.
Maxine was a graduate of Greensburg High School, and Campbellsville University, with additional studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State University, Lindsey Wilson College, and Somerset Community College.
Maxine had made a profession of faith in Christ at age 11 at Brush Creek Baptist Church and was baptized in Brush Creek with her brothers Ralph and Robert. She was a member of the oldest member of the Greensburg Baptist Church at the time of her death, where she was an active member until her illness in 2024. She had taught Sunday School and VBS at Macedonia Baptist Church in Green County from 1952 until 1964, and at Greensburg Baptist Church from 1964 until the late 1990’s. She also led various children’s mission groups from the mid 1960’s through the 1980’s.
She was united in marriage to Earl Damon Judd on December 22, 1951, who preceded her in death on November 28, 2006.

1 daughter & son-in-law: Connie Judd Hansford (& Frank) of Campbellsville
2 grandchildren: Ryan (& Lindsey) Shuffett of Greensburg and Logan Hansford of Campbellsville
2 great-grandchildren: Ashton Shuffett and Mia Shuffett, both of Greensburg
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters: Lester Ping Lobb, Ralph E. Lobb, Robert Russell Lobb, Lemuel Harry Lobb, Boyce A. Edwards, Pelman Edwards, Elsie Jane Sickles, Anna Lou Addington, Ila J. Judd, Laura Lorene Jewell, Nellie M. Milby, and an infant sister, Chrysie Evelyn Edwards.

Burial: Macedonia Cemetery
Visitation: Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT and Monday after 7:00amCT at the funeral home
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or to the Macedonia Cemetery Fund.
