James Lewis Dunlap, “Playful” as he was called by many, 77, was born on January 7, 1949 in Campbellsville, KY to the late Helen Fisher and James W. Dunlap. He departed this life on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the University of Louisville hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was a member of Fannie Chapel C.M.E. Church and was employed at Kentucky Utilities and Citizen’s Bank & Trust where he retired. James enjoyed riding horses and attending horse races, so he would make it a point to attend all of the nearby fairs that held horse races. He also had a love for his dogs, cooking, and family time.

5 sisters: Carol Robinson, Victoria Fay (Phil) Williams, Joyce Dunlap, and Helen (William) Hazelwood all of Campbellsville, KY and Felicia Dunlap Durham of Indianapolis, Indiana
5 brothers: Kenneth (Mable) Fisher, John Dunlap and David Paige all of Campbellsville, KY, Donald Dunlap of Anchorage, Alaska and James E. Dunlap of Indianapolis, Indiana
4 grandchildren: Acen and Abri Alexander of Greensburg, KY and Malik Thornton and Elijah Schooler of Phoenix City, Alabama

Funeral Service: Friday, February 13, 2026 at 1:00pmET at Fannie Chapel C.M.E Church with Rev. Dewayne Golighlty officiating
Burial: Crown Hill Cemetery
Visitation: Beginning at 11:00amET on Friday at the church
