Eldon Benningfield, 86, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Sammie T. Benningfield and Rinnie L. Short Benningfield, was born May 2, 1939 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 8:25 P.M., Monday, December 15, 2025 in Campbellsville.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church. Eldon served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard. He was a retired traveling salesman.
Eldon loved the outdoors. He spent many hours hunting, fishing and searching for Morel mushrooms; “Dry Land Fish”. He had an uncanny sense of finding the precious few places where they still grew; much to the enjoyment of his family and friends. He was an avid fan of University of Kentucky athletics, mainly basketball, and was always quick with a joke.
