Homer Simpson, 90, Greensburg, KY

 

Homer Simpson, 90, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Homer Leslie Simpson and Lillie Florence Bloyd Simpson, was born on September 3, 1935 in Greensburg and departed this life on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Green River Trails Nursing Home.

 

Mr. Simpson had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church, and attended Fry Baptist Church. He worked for AmeriGas as a propane dealer for 42½ years and worked as a Green County Magistrate for 8 years. He was a member of the Green County Sportsman’s Club, having been an avid, fisherman, trapshooter, and hunter.

 

He was united in marriage to his first wife: Marilyn Bonta Simpson on August 28, 1954, who preceded him in death on December 11, 2012.

 

SURVIVORS:

His wife of 8 years: Brenda Simpson of Greensburg

1 grandchild: Shawn Lynn Propes of Greensburg

1 great-grandchild: Jazlynn Propes of Greensburg

2 step-children: Angela & Scott Bettens of Campbellsville and Joe & Gaye Moon of North Carolina

3 step-grandchildren: Faith Bettens, Ashely Moon, and Kristoffer Moon

1 step-great-grandchild: Ethan Moon

Daughter-in-law: Belinda Simpson of Greensburg

Brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Michael & Marilyn Shirley, Wilburn & Connie Bonta, and Suvada Arnett all of Greensburg

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends

 

Besides his parents and former wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Walton Simpson; a grandchild, Shane Lee Lovins; a grandchild-in-law, Jason Propes; brothers and sisters: Billy Simpson, Vera Tucker, Ogden Simpson, Gearon Simpson, Richard Simpson, and Mildred Neagle; and a brother-in-law, Winfred Bonta.

Funeral Service: Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 1:00pmCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, KY with Bro. Joseph Wilcoxson and Bro. Wilburn Bonta officiating

 

Burial: Green County Memory Gardens

 

Visitation: Saturday from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT and Sunday after 7:00amCT at the funeral home

 

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
