Doris Jean Benningfield Price, 81, Green County, KY

 

Doris Jean Benningfield Price, 81, of Green County, KY, daughter of the late Chester Benningfield and Ivan Martin Benningfield, was born on April 21, 1944 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Saturday, October 4, 2025 in Louisville, KY. 

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ early in life and was a member of Hogards Chapel Global Methodist Church, while also being a member of Methodist Women for many years. She worked at Fruit of the Loom for 32 years and then retired after 3 years in the dietary department at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. They also had a family farm where her and her late husband raised their family, worked cattle and tobacco, and milked cows. She loved to travel and traveled to Canada and many states in the United States. Her favorite thing in the world though, was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-granddaughter.

 

She was united in marriage on November 16, 1968 to Michael Carter Price, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2015.

 

SURVIVORS:

2 sons & daughters-in-law: Michael H. & Angie Price and Edward L. & Janice Price, all of Green County

4 grandchildren: Alex Price & Katelyn, Maylee Brown & Lukas, Avry Price and Max Price all of Green County 

1 great-granddaughter: Karson Price of Green County

2 brothers-in-law: Robert Price of Greensburg and Walt Quillman of Louisville

2 sisters-in-law: Betty and Joe South of Metcalfe County, Linda and Owen Thompson of Campbellsville

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends

 

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sisters: Shirley Bennett, Kay Shipp, and Christine Benningfield; three sisters-in-law: Edna Montgomery, Nora Quillman, and Nancy Price; and two brothers-in-law: Junior Robertson and Ray Shipp

Funeral Service: Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 11:00amCT at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, KY with Bro. Bryan Estes and Bro. Earl West officiating

 

Burial: Brookside Cemetery

 

Visitation: Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pmCT and Thursday after 7:00amCT at the funeral home

 

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or to the Brookside Cemetery Fund, and can be made at the funeral home.
