Larry Gene Moran, 74, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Rural Moran and Maydell Oakes Moran, was born at home on March 8, 1951 in Green County and departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Facility in Louisville, KY.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age in Russell Creek. Larry was a member of Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but said he was always a baptist at heart.
Larry was a United States Army veteran having served at Ft. Hamilton, New York as a military policeman from 1971-1973. He was proud to be a veteran and to have served his country honorably. He was a proud member of American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124 and a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Larry continued his law enforcement career when he was discharged from the Army by serving as a Greensburg City Police Officer for ten years. Larry joined Kentucky Water Patrol in 1984 and patrolled Green River Lake until becoming a Law Enforcement Officer with Fish and Wildlife from which he retired in 2006.
He was a member of the Central Kentucky Lodge #22 of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM.
Larry loved the water and was an avid fisherman as proven by the four largemouth bass mounted in his garage or “man cave”. He loved to go to Lake Weiss in Centre, Alabama to fish for bass and was finally able to convince Sandi to join him on these trips. Until recent years, he enjoyed cooking in his garage for a yearly fish fry for neighbors and friends.
