Dean Thompson, 72, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Charlie Mat Thompson and Edna Marie Skaggs Thompson, was born February 17, 1953 in Taylor County, KY. He died Friday, September 26, 2025 in Louisville.

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith, having attended Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Dean was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and later retired from Ingersoll Rand. He enjoyed working on cars and especially watching his grandchildren’s activities.

His wife of 41 years: Penny (Johnson) Thomspon of Campbellsville

2 sons: Matt Thompson & wife Stephanie and Brandon Rucker & wife Bridgette, both of Campbellsville

3 grandchildren: Piper Rucker & fiance Gabe Gutierrez, Matilyn Thompson, and Maci Thompson

3 brothers: Mike Thompson, Danny Thompson & wife Pam of Campbellsville, and David Thompson & wife Wanda of Bowling Green

2 sisters: Wanda Lewis & husband Buck and Sue Sprowles & husband Coleman, both of Campbellsville

Mother-in-law: Charlene Johnson

Brother-in-law: Elbert Shofner.

Dean was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Shofner.
