Cheryl Eileen Pierson Blakeman, 77, of Greensburg, KY was born February 2, 1948 in Arkansas to the late Adrian and Mildred (Miller) Pierson. Surrounded by her family, she went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Cheryl spent the first years of her life in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, close to much of her extended family. Her parents moved the family to Bowling Green, KY in 1956 when Cheryl was 10 years old.
Cheryl graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1966, where she was involved in choir and home economics. She went on to attend Western Kentucky University and earn a Bachelor’s Degree in music education. As a junior in college, Cheryl met her future husband, Barry Blakeman, also a music major.
Cheryl was a talented musician and an excellent teacher. She taught piano lessons to many students over the years, running large studios of piano students in Sturgis, KY, Bowling Green KY, and finally in Greensburg, KY. She worked for many years as a paralegal in the law office of Greensburg attorney, Bill Colvin. She served as church pianist at the Greensburg Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her professional and church work, Cheryl had many other roles. She was a faithful and devoted wife, a gentle and loving mother, an incredibly doting Grammy, and a beloved daughter and sister. Her greatest joy was her family. A member of the Town and Country Homemakers group, she was known for her cooking, especially her baking, and anyone lucky enough to have a homemade pie made by Cheryl was surely spoiled for life. She had a heart for serving the vulnerable members of our community and spent many years as the coordinator of the Green County Food Pantry.
