Richard “Shorty” Colvin, 85, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Ezra and Ester (Mardis) Colvin, was born in Taylor County on June 2, 1940. He departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Colvin had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Noels Chapel Church of God. He was a retired truck driver by trade and had served his country honorably in the United States Army.
On December 10, 1966 he married the love of his life, Jo Land, and they remained a devoted couple until her passing on March 5, 2022.

2 grandchildren: Drew Hunt and Courtney Vaughn & husband Clint
1 dearly loved great-grandson: Collin Vaughn
5 sisters-in-law: Marjorie Colvin and Anita Land of Campbellsville, Shirley Land and Sharon Harne of Liberty, and Sandy Oney & husband Garry of Mt. Vernon
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends
At the request of Mr. Colvin, cremation was accorded him by L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Following a private interment service, he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the Noels Chapel Church of God Cemetery because, according to Mr. Colvin, anything more was “not necessary”.
