Jesse Shelton “John” Smothers, 80, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Jesse and Lillian (Gribbins) Smothers, was born July 9, 1945 in Marion County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home.
John made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Faith Union Baptist Church. He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army National Guard and was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and a bus driver for the Taylor County School System.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters: Ricky Smothers, Nancy Lemmon and Dorothy Newton.

8 grandchildren: Dustin Ibarra (Kaleb), Dalton Smothers, Alyssa Wethington (Dustin), Melina Smothers, Samuel Smothers, Nicholas Radcliff (Sarah Jo), Colton Radcliff (Rosie) and MacKenzie Radcliff
1 great-grandson: Ryan Wethington
