He enjoyed drawing, watching the Waltons and Gunsmoke, and liked everybody and everything, especially attending services at the Pleasant Valley Christian Church, where he was a member. Kenny was a lovable individual who grew up in a modest lifestyle, yet he consistently radiated happiness and enthusiasm for life. He had a gift for connecting with others, always greeting them with a smile and a hug. Kenny's talents included drawing portraits that captured the subject's personality and pantomiming various characters and animals. He was deeply devoted to his family, his church, and his community.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Faye Rakes and a niece, Amanda Murphy.
