OBITS

Anne Marie Herbert Frank, 94, Greensburg, KY

Anne Marie Herbert Frank, 94, was born August 7, 1930 and departed this life peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, the fourth and youngest child of Thomas Chester and Anna Marie Booton Herbert.

Anne graduated from West High School in Columbus (1948), and Ohio State University (1952), where she met her future husband George. Anne and George Emery Frank married on September 21, 1952. The couple and newborn daughter moved from Columbus to West Virginia (1955), then Anne and George made Greensburg their home in 1957. George preceded her in death in 2002.

Anne led an exemplary life of service and was an ardent proponent of ‘giving back’ before it was a thing. In a nutshell: She was a tireless and enthusiastic advocate who dedicated over 45 years of service to the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, heading up countless blood drives for the benefit of patients in need, phoning repeat donors and recruiting new ones, coordinating food and volunteers drive after drive. In addition, Anne served on the Greensburg City Council. Her volunteerism was heralded widely in various proclamations, including from the Red Cross, the Mayor of Greensburg, and the Kentucky State Senate.

Anne was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. Granny Anne loved her church family and was always willing to serve; especially coordinating/preparing meals, serving on committees and making sure the candles were always lit and were burning with the same size flame. She regularly attended meetings of the Homemakers club, and created entries for the county and state fairs. Anne was quite handy with a needle - she enjoyed sewing and knitting to create crafts for family and friends. In addition, she was no stranger to using other tools, from rewiring lamps to building various pieces of furniture and toys.

Anne is also predeceased by two sisters: Mary Beighley and Virginia Gardner.
