Lyle Carl Rakes, 68, of Elk Horn, KY, a son of the late Vernal Henry Rakes and Ruth Raikes Rakes, was born November 1, 1956 and departed this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Campbellsville.
Lyle was a farmhand and a chef. He enjoyed fishing, and giving the grandkids tractor rides and horseback rides.
He united in marriage to Connie Pittman Rakes and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2021.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters: Dorothy Rakes, Wilma Lawson, Janet Hall, and Bonnie Bush.

4 children: Johnny Rakes and April Thompson of Campbellsville, Anthony Rakes of North Carolina, and Lisa Lucas of Florida
3 step-children: Terry Abell of Calvary, Holly Abell of Gravel Switch, and Cathy Abell of Louisville
18 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren
8 siblings: Ella Reed, Vernal Rakes, Wayne Rakes, Joseph Rakes, David Rakes, Shelby Clark, Patricia Malson, and Lucy Rakes
Private Funeral Service: Friday, February 28, 2025 at 12:00pmET at L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville, KY with cremation to follow. Bro. Freddy Thompson will officiate.
Public Visitation: Friday, February 28, 2025 from 11:00am-12:00pmET at the funeral home
