OBITS

Bro. Lawrence Brockman Jr, 84, and Betty Loy Brockman, 81, Campbellsville, KY

Bro. Lawrence Brockman Jr, 84, son of the late Lawrence “Pete” Brockman Sr. and Jessie Marcum Brockman, was born on July 19, 1940 in Campbellsville. A few years later, Betty Loy Brockman, 81, daughter of the late Anthus Loy Jr and Audrey Hazel Hovious Loy, was born on December 30, 1943 in Adair County. Some years later, they met in school. Lawrence knew as soon as he saw her that he would marry her someday. On June 2, 1962, Lawrence and Betty united in marriage, beginning their 62-year love story.

Ms. Betty passed from this life on Saturday, January 11, 2025 and a short 24 hours later, Lawrence joined his love in their heavenly home on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Both Lawrence and Betty worked at Fruit of the Loom; Betty for 27 years and Lawrence worked as the shipping supervisor for 39 years. After the factory closed, Betty went on to work as a teacher’s aide for the Taylor County School System. She enjoyed working with the children and retired from the school system after several years. Lawrence was called to the ministry to serve the Lord after the factory closed. He spent 15 years serving several churches. Together, they loved to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky Wildcats basketball. When they weren’t watching games together, Betty enjoyed reading and working seek and find puzzles. Lawrence enjoyed mowing the yard and working in his garden. They both professed faith in Christ and attended Spurlington Methodist Church. They both enjoyed serving their church.
