Mary Mings, 87, Campbellsville, KY

 

Mary Mings, 87, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Welby L. Allen and Creola Bowen Allen, was born February 9, 1937 in Knifley, Adair County, KY. She passed away at 1:41 a.m., on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Celebration Villa Personal Care Home in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

 

Mary professed faith in Christ and was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church and was a retired Educator in the Commonwealth of KY, having served as a librarian for Taylor County High School and a Third Grade Teacher for Campbellsville Elementary School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Campbellsville College, her Master’s Degree in Education and a Rank 1 Certification from Western Kentucky University.

 

SURVIVORS:

1 son: James A. Mings & wife Elaine of Zelienople, Pennsylvania

2 grandchildren: Carole Elaine Webb &  husband Paul of Beavercreek, OH and Sarah Elizabeth Hart & husband Stephen of Beaver Falls, PA

6 great-grandchildren: Ellia Paige Hart, Mia Claire Hart, Emery Faith Hart, Jon Christian Webb, Austin Webb, Elijah Webb

1 great-great-grandson: Jameson Webb

3 brothers & 2 sisters: Charles W.R. Allen & wife P.J, of Greenwood, IN, W.J. (Joe) Allen & wife Marti of New Castle, IN, Wayne Allen of Newburgh, IN, Maxine Howard of Louisville, KY, and Georgia Polston of Fairland, IN

Sister-in-law: Nina Chelf of Louisville, KY

Mary was preceeded in death by her husband of 52 years, Maurice Mings (m. 1953 – 2005) and her husband of 11 years; Lewis Hardin, (m. 2008 – 2019). She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: Cecil Thomas Allen, Carlton Glenn Allen, Ruth Elizabeth Brown, and Veronica Gordon.

 

Mary was a strong proponent of the public school system in Kentucky dedicating her career to her students and fellow teachers and staff. She was also a strong witness for the Gospel, sharing Christ freely with her friends and relatives. Further, she was passionate about her church, giving freely of her time and money to its success. Her family meant everything to her, thus she could be found spending every minute possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making years of memories.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00pmET at Woodlawn Christian Church in Campbellsville, KY with Rev. Fella Wilson presiding.
 

VISITATION: After 11:00amET on Saturday at the church
