Sonya Kay Mings Akin, 71, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Ray Mings and Monteen Williams Mings was born May 31, 1953 in Taylor County. She went to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at her home, surrounded by family.
Sonya united in marriage to her longtime sweetheart, Bruce Akin, in July of 2020, who survives.
Sonya retired from Clarcor after about 18 years of service after spending about 30 years at Fruit of the Loom. She loved the beach. Going to Church and Florida were her two favorite places to go. Sonya professed faith in Christ and she attended Feathersburg First Church of God.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Seth Akin; her sister-in-law, Cindy Hughes; and her mother-in-law, Martha Cundiff.
