Bobby L. Roberts, 84, Campbellsville, KY

 

Bobby L. Roberts, 84, of Campbellsville, KY died Thursday, December 5, 2024. He was born March 27, 1940 in Campbellsville, the son of the late Fred and Esther Wade Roberts.

 

Mr. Roberts professed faith in Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Taylor County High School in 1958; drafted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and served there for approximately 45 years as an enlisted man, commissioned officer, Department of Army Civilian and defense contractor. Retiring from Active Duty as a Lieutenant Colonel and Vietnam Veteran, he was awarded the legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with “V” device with three Oak Leave Clusters, Air Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnamese Honor Medal First Class, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Man’s Badge, plus numerous other awards and citations during that service. Continuing to work for the Army as a Civilian where he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Superior Civilian Service Award, and Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, and several other commendations. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian (Frank) Spocharski and four brothers: James Wade, Elwood, Derald and Fred, Jr.

His wife of 62 years: Carolyn Colvin Roberts

1 son & daughter-in-law: Kevin & Melisssa Hatcher Roberts

1 sister: Alice Nance

2 sisters-in-law: Gladys Wise Roberts of Campbellsville and JoAnne Hedgespeth Roberts of Fairborn, Ohio

Special sister-in-law: Linda Rice of Campbellsville

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00pmET at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. Ray Roberts

 

BURIAL: Green River Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard

 

VISITATION: After 10:00amET on Saturday at the funeral home
