Kenneth Eugene Cook, Sr., 83, Green County, KY

 

Kenneth Eugene Cook, Sr., 83, of the Fry community of Green County, KY was born June 24, 1941 in Rockmart, Georgia to the late Ralph D Cook and Emma Adrian Creel Cook. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg.

 

Mr. Cook had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Fry Baptist Church. He was a Court Security Officer for the Green County Judicial Center. Mr. Cook was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served for 4 years and the United States Army for 16 years. While serving in the U.S. Army, he served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver and Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm, and a Purple Heart. He served in ECHO Company 65th Engineers 25th Infantry Division. Mr. Cook was a current member of the James L. Pruitt VFW Post 5813 Greensburg, KY where he formerly served as Sr Vice Commander and Quartermaster.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kay Riley Cook on November 23, 2020, a daughter, Stacy Reynolds Cook on May 2, 2021 and by one brother, Max David Cook.

 

SURVIVORS:

7 children: Kenneth Eugene “Pete” Cook, JR, Cindy Cogswell, Bobby Cook & wife Jo, Angie Cox & husband Keith all of Greensburg, David Cook & wife Kass and Zachary Cook of Campbellsville, and Keith Eric Cook of Louisville

1 brother: Dale Cook of Vermont

Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews

A host of other relatives & friends

 

Funeral Service: Monday, September 30, 2024 at 11:00amCT at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, Greensburg, KY with Bro. Larry Wisdom and Bro. Jared Ervin officiating

 

Burial: Fry Cemetery

 

Visitation: After 9:00amCT on Monday

 

Pallbearers: Kenneth Eugene “Pete” Cook, JR, Bobby Cook, Keith Eric Cook, Keith Cox, David Cook, Zachary Cook and Bobby Cook, JR

 

Honorary Pallbearers: James L Pruitt VFW Post 5813 Members and Auxiliary Members

 

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to Fry Baptist Church and/ or James L Pruitt VFW Post 5813 Greensburg, KY. These can be made at the funeral home.
