Arlene Ferguson Simpson, 91, of Campbellsville, KY entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Norton Audubon Hospital. She was born October 13, 1932 in Knifley, KY to the late Ores and Rachel Ferguson.
Arlene was of the Baptist faith and one of the founders of Meadowview Baptist Church. She retired from Fruit of the Loom after 30 years. During her retirement, she became the glue that held together the family business, B & W Auto Sales.
Growing up, she had a very close relationship with her siblings and grandparents. Arlene was named “Punk” at a very young age and it followed her through life. “Punk” graduated from Adair County High School. Punk met the love of her life, Welby Simpson, during high school and they later married on October 8, 1950. She supported Welby while he pursued his dreams. His dreams soon became their dreams as they built a very successful family business. Punk and Welby welcomed their only son, Jeffrey Alan Simpson, on August 22, 1952. From an early age, Jeff followed in his father’s footsteps and later took over the family business.

7 great-grandchildren: Bryce Steele, Brylee Adams, Haleigh Collison & husband Josh Collison, Lily Murphy, Ryder Murphy, Brystol Simpson and Paysley Turner
1 great-great-grandson: Russell Collison

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Doug Ferguson and one sister, Virginia Grant.
