OBITS

Billy Gene Edwards, 67, & Kathy Lynn Thompson Edwards, 58, Elizabethtown, KY

Billy Gene Edwards, 67, (formerly of Greensburg, KY) and Kathy Lynn Thompson Edwards, 58, both of Elizabethtown, KY passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 due to an accident.

They loved spending all their free time with their grandchildren, spending most of their weekends at baseball games, cheer competitions, volleyball games, or taking their youngest grandson on lawnmower rides. Billy and Kathy loved taking trips on their motorcycle; they were always up for an adventure. They served their community and were well recognized within their community.

Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran and served 24 years with the Elizabethtown Police Department where he retired in 2013. He worked primarily on the Greater Hardin County Task Force. Billy served with distinction, determination, and dedication. He was currently working for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office as a School Resource Officer.

Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend. She never met a stranger and always had a positive outlook. Kathy would always greet you with a smiling face and her laugh was contagious. If you spent time with her, a laughable memory was going to be made.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Boyce and Sarah Walker Edwards; two sons: Chad and Caleb Edwards; and two brothers: Homer Edwards and Terry Lee Edwards.

Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Cindy Huff.
